Terminal V cancelled

I can't believe they've cancelled Terminal V music festival! Absolutely gutted. This was a bright spot on the horizon after a year of cancelled holidays etc. It seems ridiculous to cancel it when so many other large events have been allowed to happen. If we can do stuff like this now, then when?!

Who cancelled it?

Groovee · 01/10/2021 05:05

My dd had a ticket for this. She's not amused.

@DragonDoor

Who cancelled it?
According to the statement the decision was made following a meeting with "local authorities and partner agencies". The organisers gave the impression that they had no choice in the matter.

It's very disappointing, isn't it.
Lots of people will have already arranged travel/accommodation too

LarryVeest · 01/10/2021 12:22

It's just bizarre and feels utterly unfair. Can't even get refunds on the tickets. They're rescheduling to Easter. I don't know if I can go then, or indeed if Maceo Plex will be playing (which was my main draw!).

They're probably not willing or able to go through all the hoops being asked of them to make the event 'covid safe.' Refunds should be offered though, even if the event is only postponed.

forfucksakenett · 01/10/2021 14:06

What local authority is it? Very strange tbh given that, like you say, so many bigger events have gone ahead. Could the organisers be trying to blame the LA?

Groovee · 01/10/2021 14:09

It was at ingliston I think so would come under Edinburgh x

forfucksakenett · 01/10/2021 14:14

They are saying in the comments on Instagram that it absolutely was taken out their hands and is not their decision. I know it's inside but I'd still be pissed off at this tbh.

StarryEyeSurprise · 01/10/2021 16:34

I think it'll be due to the increased pressure on the NHS from the event (drink and drug related patients needing hospital support). My friend signs off on similar events on behalf of the NHS. They're already under so much pressure in A and E ( because GPs like mine won't give emergency appointments for five days but that's for another thread).
I'm sorry for people that were looking forward to it.

Ah I hadn't really thought about drink/drug casualties... Do you think they have a significant number of people needing medical assistance? When they mentioned pressure on the NHS, I assumed they just just meant more people catching covid from being in a crowd.

Probably a bit of both but yeah it will have a decent amount needing short term, emergency care. T in the park, The Arches - these were shut down due to issues and a similar meeting would have taken place with representatives from police, fire, council, NHS etc and if the NHS said that it'd be too much strain on them then the decision would be made to move it to another time.

StarryEyeSurprise · 01/10/2021 22:20

Of course I wasn't at the meeting and haven't looked at the reasons given so could be completely wrong!!

tabulahrasa · 04/10/2021 18:15

The ultimate 90’s rave from last weekend was postponed too... seems Edinburgh council are only willing to licence outdoor events and they have to finish at 10.30. (Well to be exact they tried to change it to outdoor and finishing then, but that fell through)

So I’d imagine it’s the same issue.

sartorius · 04/10/2021 18:30

Comic Con at Highland showground has also been cancelled, citing the strict rules for indoor events.

MotherofTerriers · 05/10/2021 17:30

There's a big Fly Halloween event on, wonder if that will go ahead
