I know you all loved it. Wonder how ticket sales will go. 😂

I usually have complete FOMO but honestly I can’t face it.
My rage was very real after the 2019 debacle. Charmless, overpriced, irrelevant crap.

I can already imagine what the ice rink will be like by 7pm with students and kids bumping into each other Grin And having to sell a kidney for some marshmallows and a can of juice.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 28/09/2021 18:00

I went in 2019 - I had bought tickets before the news started hitting about how just how utterly shit it was.

Looks like this year, the Kelvingrove Museum have quite rightly disassociated themselves from the whole fiasco. So it's really just going to be GlasGlow in the Kelvingrove rather than the botanics, with people dressed as elves, and a couple of unicorns.

No thanks.

Selkiesarereal · 28/09/2021 20:43

No, not for us, paid a lot of money for the 2019 disaster in which I kept manically smiling and telling the kids how much fun we were all having.

aquamarine1 · 28/09/2021 20:46

I honestly loved the 2019 Elfingrove, but I've only ever met one other person who agreed with me 🤣

Nanananani · 28/09/2021 20:48

No chance after the waste of money last time

Rainbowshit · 28/09/2021 22:00

Actually aquamarine despite starting this thread I loved Elfingrove too. So did my kids. I don't think it deserved the slagging it got. Not certain I'll buy tickets to this one though.

Going by the comments on their Facebook Glasgow doesn't seem to have forgotten the 2019 Elfingrove disaster.

Unforntuatley it'll probably still sell out though and line Oli Norman's pockets, as everyone's desperate for a big Christmas events after none last year.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 29/09/2021 12:03

If anyone wants to do something FREE and Christmassy, last year Killearn did an advent windows thing around the village. The idea was that every day through december a window would "open" somewhere in the village, decorated in a Christmassy theme. They had a pdf map you could download to guide you around the windows, some of the decorations were amazing.

Charity donations were being accepted but it was low key. Elfingrove are looking for £16 per adult and £8 per child (so almost £50 for a family of 4) plus extra for the skating, extra for the marshmallows, extra for the stalls... not cheap. And really poor value for money.

Toolateplanting · 29/09/2021 12:06

Does anyone know if it’ll be possible just to pay in to the ice rink and how much that’ll be?

MeAndDebbieMcGee · 29/09/2021 12:10

I'm only going if they promise to bring back Rudolph the Dead Dinosaur

Beepbeeprichie · 29/09/2021 12:13

Oh I had totally forgotten about that @MeAndDebbieMcGee. Which is strange as at the time I thought I’d never unsee it Grin
Flashback to me ushering a raft of 4 year olds in the opposite direction Grin

MichelleScarn · 29/09/2021 12:25

He was a jolly old fellow! Grin

Elfingrove is back.
KingsleyShacklebolt · 29/09/2021 12:34

My personal lowlight was shuffling past some bored drama students dressed as crusaders in an upstairs rooms, supposedly on their "Christmas Knight Out".

Highlight of the visit was buying excellent brownies from the Three Sisters Bake outside before going in. It was all downhill from there. Just awful.

aquamarine1 · 30/09/2021 11:16

Just saw the ticket prices - for a family of 4 to do the trail and ice-skating it's £96 for two hours. Skating or trail only (1 hour) is £48 for a family of 4. I think it's extremely expensive.

Haudyourwheesht · 30/09/2021 22:12

No skating for under 5s either so we're out. I'm hoping Paisley have their winter fest again.

aquamarine1 · 04/10/2021 20:04

I just read that the river walk section of this is cancelled so just the ice skating is going on sale.

UmpteenthTime · 05/10/2021 10:41

The Herald is reporting that Elfingrove has been cancelled.
Behind paywall, so I don’t know why.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 05/10/2021 10:55

news.stv.tv/west-central/elfingrove-trail-cancelled-this-christmas-due-to-supply-issues?top

"Supply issues" but the press release does not say what these issues are and just go on about how they've been planning since February.
