But if the SG had accepted the offer of the app they would have added Scottish GPs obviously!

Sigh. It’s not an English app. It’s an NHS app- data linking data, to put it simply.
By not sharing the technology, they’ve sent £600k+ out of Scotland to spend on creating a new app. This isn’t coming into force elsewhere and they’ve failed to deliver to decent standards (see also; ferries, hospitals) as per usual an app which automatically discriminates by requiring premium handsets.

A health app that determines what you can and can’t do, administered by this current collection of clowns. Jesus wept, how can anyone think this is right for our society or the businesses it seeks to control.

StarryEyeSurprise · 02/10/2021 23:00

So the English government wanted to include Scotland's data yet those vaccinated in Jersey (tiny population) aren't even included? Ok.

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2021 23:03

They didn’t “want to”. They offered the tech 🙄🙄

Just inane

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 02/10/2021 23:12

Once again, there is no English Government Hmm

And honestly how does what happens or doesn't happen in Jersey have any fucking relevance to Scotgov spending £600k on a non working IT system from another country when they could have used a already tried and tested one for free?

Scottishskifun · 02/10/2021 23:46

@StarryEyeSurprise

So the English government wanted to include Scotland's data yet those vaccinated in Jersey (tiny population) aren't even included? Ok.
😂 Jersey and the Channel Islands are completely separate they are a Crown dependent, have their own government and not actually part of the UK. They have their own judicial and financial system. It does count as part of the British Isles but this is completely separate from being part of the UK. Hence channel Island students for instance count as international students for fee purposes for university.

So no they would not use a UK govt app as they are not actually part of the UK. Bit like the Falkland Isles!

Scottishskifun · 03/10/2021 00:26

Oh and just to add Jersey and the Channel Islands does not have the NHS they have their own healthcare system which is pay service hence if you go on holiday there it's wise to take out travel insurance!

ElephantOfRisk · 03/10/2021 00:33

....and they pay a maximum of 20% income tax and lots of taxes they don't pay at all so they can probably afford to pay private health cover. Whereas scotgov are wasting our money that we've all paid in to fund things and i'm sure we wouldn't make the choice to piss over half a million quid on this shite.......for no reason.

Coquohvan · 03/10/2021 07:26

Recently through airport to our departure gate waiting to board flight.
All done via the French app where our vaccine status can be added.
OH managed to download NHS app no luck for me. Thanks Denmark enjoy your 600K from NS.
English Government when did this happen? asking for a friend.

OnceUponAWhine · 03/10/2021 07:56

All done via the French app where our vaccine status can be added.

Tres bien. I wonder if anyone from France coming on holiday here will enjoy that same smooth transition with the app🤣
Happy travels @Coquohvan

Coquohvan · 03/10/2021 08:14

Oui bien sûr @OnceUponAWhine we used it coming back from France is September. French will have no trouble using their app to come to UK.

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/10/2021 08:20

Again, there is no 'UK app'. There is an English app.

ElephantOfRisk · 03/10/2021 08:42

Oh for goodness sake @starryeyesurprise. Are there any lengths you won't go to to defend this?

Do you think if we used an English app that our fingers will fall off? Or is it better to be a racist and waste money that could have funded all manner of good stuff?

What is the justification you can come up with that makes you think this was a good idea? As far as I can tell the only one is that Sturgeon and yousless and the rest of the incompetent and racist crew didn't want to use it because its English.

Scottishskifun · 03/10/2021 09:31

🙄 @starryeyesuprise come on even you can see its a massive waste of money!

If you take the app and Salmond case alone that's 1.2 million...... What could that money have done in the part of Glasgow where you work....... Surely you can see that it's a balls up to waste that much money needlessly just because they want to be stubborn!

OnceUponAWhine · 03/10/2021 09:32

@StarryEyeSurprise

Again, there is no 'UK app'. There is an English app.
Apps are global.
WouldBeGood · 03/10/2021 09:34

I think it’s all actually quite helpful as it exposes the SG as the money wasting charlatans they are.

Talk that NS happy to press on with the rubbish app as it makes Humza look even more useless so no chance of a coup.

OP posts:
StarryEyeSurprise · 03/10/2021 09:36

The point is, it's being referred to as a 'UK App' as if the rest of the UK are using the one app and the SG decided to be different. This is not the case.

ElephantOfRisk · 03/10/2021 09:42

No that's not the point at all.

WouldBeGood · 03/10/2021 09:48

@WouldBeGood

So, railing about the suggestion that the SG rejected using the UK app for free, and spent all that money on setting up their own crap one, rather than the functioning English one..
The functioning English one.
OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 03/10/2021 09:51

It’s also a good distraction to argue about this rather than the SG’s authoritarian instincts causing us to have these exclusionary and pointless vaccine passports for ordinary day to day activities when they’re not required in England. As there’s no evidence to support their use.

OP posts:
Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 03/10/2021 09:51

Surely the key point is that Scotland had the opportunity to link into an existing app used elsewhere in the UK for minimal cost, one that has been in use for several months and is proven to work. Instead they chose to spend in excess of half a million pounds of our money paying a Danish firm to create a separate app that discriminates against people without photo ID and doesn't work.

Why? There's no good reason that I can see, and I think it's reasonable to assume that this was purely to avoid us being integrated with other UK nations and an attempt to make Scotland 'different'. It's absolutely pathetic.

ElephantOfRisk · 03/10/2021 09:53

Well yes exactly. Mumsnet SNP squirrel department is about as competent as the rest of the party.

Scottishskifun · 03/10/2021 10:14

@StarryEyeSurprise

The point is, it's being referred to as a 'UK App' as if the rest of the UK are using the one app and the SG decided to be different. This is not the case.
No the point is that the SG has wasted 600k when they could have got one for free that's the bloody point and to most people in Scotland 600k is a lot of money to waste just because you want to be stubborn and not accept to use the one created by the UK govt that is currently used in England!

So @starryeyesuprise do you think 600k spent on something which does not work is worth the money when we could have used one for free?????

ElephantOfRisk · 03/10/2021 10:17

Yes @youcantbeserious and I've asked the same question ski, not expecting an answer though.

titsintiers · 03/10/2021 10:51
