Close Covid Contacts in Schools in June

Hi! Hope you don’t mind a question from an NI mumsnetter! Due to some issues with close contact definition in NI schools I have been looking at a publication by Public Health Scotland on percentage transmission in schools to pupils identified as close contacts but it does not state who was defined as a close contact. Does anyone in Scotland know what the definition of a school
Close contact would have been in the last term of the 20/21 school year?

Not entirely sure tbh
Ds only had to isolate once so I don't think they sent whole year groups home or anything

Thanks 😊 I should have said in my first message that I’m particularly interested in primary schools.

Before the summer holidays our school were still sending the whole class home.

Now it is just the table(4 kids) the positive person sits at.

Thank-you @TheCanyon it was the same here last term, now it’s only children who have hugged, kissed or held hands Hmm

My DC school weren’t sending whole classes home.

Primary we had the whole class, secondary contact sitting within 2m. Secondary now, sleepovers and similar, not classmates. I don't know about primary but no one has been asked to isolate when there is a positive case in my dd's class just now.

Dds teacher has just told me that from Monday it will only be siblings that are sent home. Nuts...

pearpickingporky84 · 15/09/2021 20:21

@TheCanyon here siblings get sent home to get a test on day 2 after the first case and f it’s negative they’re allowed back..

They will be sent home to take a PCR. If its negative they can go back to school as under 18s and double vaccinated adults no longer need to isolate.

In June it was anyone within 2 metres for secondary and whole primary classes (as not expected to social distance). Now it’s a free for all- seems crazy e.g. having siblings of positive cases back in school if one PCR is negative. My child’s school no longer informs us if positive cases/possible contact in school as logistically impossible due to huge numbers!
