Scottish primary schools league table

Quarter of P7s not getting to basic literacy and numeracy standards. Ouch. Does anyone have a share token or archive link for the Times story, or even better a link to the data from the Scottish govt? I found a freely available table for Edinburgh but it's poorly formatted.

Really? Please don't share the clickbait. The article fails to understand a basic concept of CFE that 2nd level is designed to straddle primary and secondary. A young person has not "failed to make the grade" if they have not achieved 2nd level by the end of P7. The journalist has been challenged by many in education about the inaccuracies in the article but has chosen to remain silent and let the clicks accumulate.

I’d also love to see the full table if anyone has a link? CFE is shit so I don’t really can’t what the measures mean, as long as they have been compared on the same criteria it gives a good enough indication of school performance

Care not can’t

I think it's a load of codswallop. Staff and children have had disrupted years. Children not able to have extra support at home that would be given in groups. Staff working hard to support childrens well being when they were struggling with the changes going on in their lives.

It's all the tabloids care about upsetting parents into thinking their school is shite when it's not.

Anyone have a share token for the original times article?

Completely agree. Clickbait nonsense.

I've seen kids achieve level 2 by the end of second year and then comfortably go on to get their English Higher in S6.

I think it's about time we stopped with the rhetoric that kids NEED to be at a certain point by a certain time. It's ridiculous and completely unfair on young people.

Don't hold much store by this personally. Our secondary is fed by 1 school in the top tiers and 4 very much in the lower tiers. The top tier 1 has been under performing the other 4 for at least the last 5 years of secondary school leavers. This is a better metric than esoteric internally measured teacher assessments in the article. I have never seen an attempt to assess it more widely.
