Sounds like a song! Managed to find 2 nights in youth hostel, so I’d like to pack things in, can anyone recommend? We are us and two teens ( 13 and 16) none of us are super fit Munro’s types, but a bit of a walk to something would be great, give the teens purpose and a sense of achievement. Really do not want to be dragging them round, or worse still, looking at it all from the car.
Many thanks. Oh and midgies?

Check out www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ for walks. It’s a glorious part of the world

Second the walk highland website

You can go up the chairlift;

Or visit the ice factor at Kinlochleven:

The midges are fierce. They don't like Avon original skin so soft spray so cover yourselves in it. That's what a lot of Highlanders including me us. Do buy a repellent to though. Wear long sleeves etc of its conditions they are out in. Also take midge bite cream

EnglishScot · 31/07/2021 16:03

Go up the chairlift.

Thank you! I’m ridiculously excited - haven’t been away since forever and have always wanted to go to this area. We’re from the east coast no midgies at all! Or not many. How do they get in your bra??!

They are tiny, that's how! They get everywhere!
Buy Smidge. It works as a repellent better than SSS, I find.

The lost Valley is a lovely walk, so is the devil's staircase for the views. I love glencoe too! You could also walk a bit of the west highland way from there.
If you are taking a car to any of the car parks/laybys for a walk you need to go early. They fill up really quickly.
Have a great time!

Thank you all. We have just come back and glencoe is officially now my favourite place.how have we not been before? The chairlift is fab! And though we didn’t make the lost valley - Dp worried we only had trainers, we found some lovely walks. Amazing walks! What a landscape. Instant calm and soooooo incredible. Now I just want to go back! Even the bored teenagers enjoyed. What is going on?!
Thanks for the tips.
