Stirling Primary Schools - Borestone

Hi all,

Long time lurker, this is my first post - moved across from the main primary education board. I'm looking for any parents in the Stirling area with knowledge of Borestone Primary School. Thinking of moving into the catchment area but really struggling to access information (no inspection report online) and with it being the holidays we can't arrange a tour.

Any help much appreciated!

Thank you

My DDs didn't attend there but I do know the school through the tiny world of being a teacher in Stirling. It's has quite a historically deprived catchment area. There are a fair few new builds which might be gradually changing the dynamic. There was a very efficient HT who led well and was well regarded for her commitment to the school and community. But I recall hearing she had gone. Some of the teachers were hand delivering work packs (and food parcels Sad) during the first lockdown. St Ninian's Primary (non denominational named after the area) has a better reputation. Have a look at the SIMD deciles around Borestone.Primary. Depending where the property you are looking at is (and availability if placement requests) St Ninians or even Cambusbarron be preferable.

Thanks so much @Lidlfix it's helpful to have an insiders knowledge. So hard to know when you're not from the area.

Good to hear about St Ninians. We would be just slightly outside the catchment area there by a couple of streets, do you know how likely it is that stirling schools will grant placement requests from just outside catchment area?

Thank you!

I have a friend who's DC are currently attending St Ninian's as placement requests. Some Stirling schools are becoming nearer capacity but not to the extent you see in Glasgow or Edinburgh in popular areas. Many of the primaries are fairly "much of a muchness" in Stirling and the Pupil Equity Funding has helped but if it was possible to get into St Ninian's over Borestone I would, especially if you are only streets out.

Thanks @Lidlfix we are having a look across the whole surrounding area of Stirling too so I will bear all this in mind.

Got to sell my Falkirk house first so hopefully plenty time to figure out the next move.

Thanks again. Smile
