Scottish contact tracing- how far back does it go ?

Does anyone know or have recent experience of this ? How far back do they go and does it differ if it's asymptomatic versus symptomatic?

No idea rookie, just going by what seems to be going around, it seems that they are a bit fecked at the moment and it's direct contacts only. Some folk not being contacted until they are already past the riskiest part of the "isolation" period.

Surely the game's a bogey now?

48 hours from start of symptoms or if no symptoms then from the positive test. No idea why only 48 hours when they say the average incubation is 5 days but it is what it is.

rantymcrantface66 · 03/07/2021 12:32

And yes, test and trace sometimes taking 8 days or more to actually catch up with people so they have to isolate for 10 hours or whatever- madness

ElephantOfRisk · 03/07/2021 12:35

I noticed they were advertising for staff but surely this wont be going for much longer?

rookiemere · 03/07/2021 12:56

Thanks folks. Just wondered if we should do a symptomatic testing or wait for a few days more after group family holiday.

What's your reason for testing? I assume if you are infected with covid and have been in contact with the wider family within the last 48 hours then your family would want to know. Do you think you might have covid?

rookiemere · 03/07/2021 13:18

@rantymcrantface66 I have no major reason to suspect we have covid other than we have slight sore throats, but we're thinking about an abroad holiday in August and wanted to know in advance if we do have it.
The family members we have been on holiday with have either been double jabbed, jabbed or in their twenties and not bothered about catching covid.
Anyway DH has had a negative LF and I managed to botch mine up Blushso no story here.

I have friends who have isolated of their own accord, they are close contacts of a positive case whose symptoms started on Sunday and who got his result Monday. They've still not been contacted by anyone.

gracielooloo · 03/07/2021 21:25

I was contacted about DD on Thursday, she was a close contact and needed to isolate until……. today!
Unfortunately we were on holiday and had been a week since she last saw the contact and we’d been out and about a lot.

tiredoftiers · 05/07/2021 09:55

who knows, we were contacted on day 9 post contact. told to isolate for 10hours. feel the horse had bolted in this instance, and perhaps they should have been busy prioritising the new cases.

Also know that they don't seem to be digging particularly hard when there is a positive case. Asking questions about work, but not about social activities. It sounds like the system is a bit wrecked at the moment.
