Quarantining with kids?

Travelling with my young kids to see my family in Scotland. We are coming from an EU country. I have read that I have to stay inside the whole first ten days and can't go out at all, that's fine. It doesn't mention anything about exceptions for kids.

Has anyone been in a similar situation in the previous weeks? I presume the kids stay in the whole time with me? Are they allowed to go outside on the pavement for a bit if they maintain social distancing? I am presuming the answer is no, but the information across everywhere is so opaque and conflicting I feel like I am losing my mind!

Where are you quarantining? Is there a private garden as they could go in that if there is

badg3r · 02/07/2021 07:51

There is a tiny bit of outside space but they can't really run in it or get rid of much energy

Probably impossible but if there is anything you can feasibly do to quarantine in a house with private garden then do it! It will change misery endurance feat to hmm this is actually quite a nice holiday thank you. Flat dweller here.

From a fellow flat dweller, I hear you!! We haven't seen family for a year and a half so even if we are cooped up in the flat, in our room mostly and at 2m distance, it'll be worth it.

My sympathy goes out to you.

Ridiculous they make you quarantine when we in Sco have the highest cases in the EU at the mo...

badg3r · 02/07/2021 13:49

Yes the case load is two hundred times higher in Scotland than where we are...

Also placing this here in case it is useful for other people. When I filled out the passenger locator form I was able to specify more than one address. You can only have one address at one time but it seems we could in theory quarantine five days with one relative and five days with another for example.

Thanks for the info - v interesting

Another update - it seems possible to modify the passenger locator form after you have arrived too. I needed to update the contact details after arriving but it would have also been possible to update the addresses at this point if I had wanted. So it turns out I didn't need to pick one place to stay the whole time and also didn't even need to decide how to split time until I was here.
