What does this mean for both the Scotland and England players from Friday?

We could potentially end up with most of the team having to isolate Shock

I haven't seen the videos but I don't think filming or playing table tennis would automatically make you a close contact.

Bytheloch · 21/06/2021 12:26

Hi to all those folk currrently isolating (in Scotland) due to one distant contact or one of a class (a team size, if you will) from an education or childcare setting.

If only you were a football player based in a camp that was covered by public health England, to avoid exactly this situation, so now only the person with the positive test has to isolate. If only you could pretend you hadn’t had contact with anyone else, by deleting your social media posts.

Enough is enough.

roobicoobi · 21/06/2021 12:43

I'm honestly baffled at this

roobicoobi · 21/06/2021 12:50

Posted too soon, got distracted by DD and have now forgotten the rest of my sentence Blush

I am baffled this can happen and affect no other people

I'm a huge fan and follow football but this is ridiculous

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 21/06/2021 12:52

This really is the biggest piss take. I don't want them to isolate I want a chance tomorrow but I have literally just had tests delivered, sent to me because I'm going to the fan zone next week. Why bother when the players can do what they like?

rookiemere · 21/06/2021 13:05

@IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 as I understand it the tests are optional anyway, which in itself is fairly ridiculous considering the number of people amassing together.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 21/06/2021 13:08

Yeah @rookiemere there is no letter or anything with it just the test kit. I just think we should stop isolation and replace with tests. School kids are being hammered with SI when if we have all these tests let's just get on with it

TinkleTongs · 21/06/2021 14:29

I was thinking about the changing rooms too , surely they are windowless rooms , under the stadiums. How can that be classed as no close contact.

( I am a Scotland supporter and totally don’t want to lose all these great players however it seems impossible that these team mates are not classed as close contact )

Also , he hugged English players too ? At the end of the game…

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/06/2021 14:30

Install stories disappear after 24hours. Could that be why they've gone?

TinkleTongs · 21/06/2021 14:30

This 100% too

Absolutely.

I’m a Scotland supporter, and don’t want any other player to have to isolate, but I can’t just mindlessly accept the claim that there has been no close contact with other players.

suggestionsplease1 · 21/06/2021 14:46

Nicola Sturgeon is going to be raging! I wonder what she will say to an interviewer if this comes up.

That he’s in England and following Public Health England messaging.
QueenBee52 · 21/06/2021 15:18

I hope he isn't unwell 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

ssd · 21/06/2021 16:45

Yes i hope he is ok.

MaybeCrazy2 · 21/06/2021 16:48

Funny how no one else has to isolate!

ssd · 21/06/2021 16:54

Ridiculous really

AutoGroup · 21/06/2021 16:55

I know no one wants to believe it but football the industry has taken this really seriously. Outdoors, on the pitch, in England at least, no one counts as a close contact. Test and Trace in England isn't interested in outdoor contacts.

They will have the changing rooms organised so that there's social distancing. I don't know what the arrangements are at Wembley, but at my club when games recommenced players were changing under the stands to allow more space.

What the players are up to socially is a different thing of course, but I can believe they can take an official line that everyone maintained a social distance.

Plus they do have a good testing programme, as illustrated by this case having been identified.

ssd · 21/06/2021 16:55

God knows what kids in school think of all this

rookiemere · 21/06/2021 17:06

@AutoGroup there's pictures of Billy on the Daily Mail online tackling Harry Kane, having arms round other players and being hugged by other players.

I'm sure the football industry does take the regulations seriously what with it being such a profitable sport, but it's simply untrue to say that close contact did not occur with other players in his team in the public lens.

It's insulting to families who have had their DCs self isolating for much less contact.

Outdoors though? Where for Test and Trace purposes it doesn't count, whether you're a footballer or anyone else.

latissimusdorsi · 21/06/2021 17:23

I thought Outdoors counts if you are in actual physical person to person contact such as hugging

Bytheloch · 21/06/2021 17:34

That thing where we were told don’t hug anyone- indoors or out. Stay 2m away outside. Stay 1m away, outside. Walk on the one way system. Wear a mask when queuing outside a shop. Wear a mask when picking up your child from school/nursery outside. Etc, etc.

But hey, having contact with another footballer outside, particularly if you’re sweaty doesn’t count.

Enough is enough.

latissimusdorsi · 21/06/2021 17:41

Err yes if outdoors doesn't count why do parents have to wear face masks in the playground when collecting children?

ssd · 21/06/2021 18:08

And i think when you eat outside in a restaurant or pub you still have to give test and trace details?
