Hi, first time posting so be gentle. My OH and DS who is 8yrs are moving to Perth. I grew up there, but since it's been twenty years since I lived there I am wondering where the better primary schools are. Also the family friendly areas to live. My biggest concern is my DS, so any advice on clubs would be great. Thanks in advance. X 🙂

For schools I would say Craigie, Kinnoull and St John's

Areas up the Western Edge or Criaigie are all nice places to live

Or Scone

Watching with interest Star

We’re thinking of relocating to a smaller city to escape the Edinburgh property market and Perth is on our list. Also considering Dundee area.

We went on a day trip recently and all of the housing areas we visited seemed lovely. We looked around Oakbank where 2 of the high schools are - lots of 1900s houses and bungalows. Then we crossed the river and looked at Gannochy - very leafy over on that side of the river! Lots of Victorian properties.

I just worry that it’s maybe a bit small and there’s potentially a lack of activities and culture compared to other Scottish cities.

I think you might be looking for Stirling, generally more activities and amenities based on its size and good schools.

Thank you, we were thinking Craigie I really liked it. Just wanted to make sure schools were ok so thanks.
Perth is smaller but I think for us it has plenty, and I think there is plenty close by. Totally individual choice though, Stirling is nice too.

Feel free to post any potential houses and I'll give you an honest opinion Smile

Thank you that's very kind. We actually noticed a couple in Raeburn Park for rent and to buy. We might rent for the first few months till we decide. It looked nice and close to school.

That's nice OP. Walking distance to the town, handy for the leisure pool

Craigie cross has the best fish and chips in Perth

Plus there is a really friendly pub next to the school. Abbotsford. Definitely worth a visit.
