Rescheduling Covid Vaccine - How Easy?

KM38 · 27/05/2021 06:02

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how easy it is to reschedule a Covid Vaccine in Scotland? Just seen online that 30-39s in our area will be vaccinated between 31/5 and 20/6. DH and I both fall into this category but he works offshore and leaves tomorrow (28/5) and won’t be back until 23/6. He has no access to phone signal during office hours so I’ll have to reschedule for him. Is it straight forward enough to do or is it difficult to rebook for a specific date?
Also, for myself, I’m currently on Mat Leave so will be home alone with our newborn and no childcare options at all. I’m assuming I won’t be allowed to take baby with me?

When you receive your letter, it will.give you either a phone number or website and login to reschedule. Takes less than 5 minutes. I've rescheduled both doses no issue. I'm in Fife.

KM38 · 27/05/2021 06:19

@bookishtartlet Perfect! Thank you 😊 wasn’t sure if it was one of these things that DH would have to phone and do himself which is impossible during office hours 😊

I couldn't make mine however haven't managed to reschedule as I got up to mid July checking every venue and every day with no appointments showing. Apparently they add more all the time but you have to look at the right time and I've not worked out when that is yet. That was before they invited the younger age group too so imagine it's worse now (I've not tried for a couple of days)

GrandPrismatic · 27/05/2021 06:26

I’m assuming I won’t be allowed to take baby with me?
I’d be shocked if they didn’t let you take a baby. I’m sure they are not actively encouraging it but there is no way they could (or should) refuse you when you have no other option.

NerrSnerr · 27/05/2021 06:31

My friend took her baby for her jab and they were fine with it

UCOinanOCG · 27/05/2021 06:35

It's easy. My DH had to reschedule his second one.

UCOinanOCG · 27/05/2021 06:36

Abs it can be done online. No phone calls required.

cocoloco987 · 27/05/2021 07:00

And yes you can take babies, dc someone for support should you need it. They are just happy you are turning up tbh

rookiemere · 27/05/2021 08:10

Dead easy to reschedule on the website.

KM38 · 27/05/2021 08:12

@cocoloco987 That’s not ideal! Hopefully you manage to get booked in soon!

@GrandPrismatic @NerrSnerr I had to attend a couple of appointments at the maternity unit postnatally and wasn’t allowed to take my EBF baby with me when I had no other childcare options 🙄 so assumed everywhere would be the same at the moment if he wasn’t even allowed in there! But I’ll double check before I go 😊

@UCOinanOCG Perfect! I had hoped it would be straight forward 😊

I was able to get an appointment for the next day when I got my second letter last Saturday. Very straightforward.

emmathedilemma · 27/05/2021 12:14

I tried a few times and couldn't get any availability but other people in the same health board have tried and got one for the next day so I think it's just a matter of luck and maybe sitting hitting refresh a few times one evening!

RaspberryCoulis · 27/05/2021 17:05

Agree - the process is easy enough, actually finding an alternative appointment isn't that easy.

KM38 · 28/05/2021 04:51

@Groovee @emmathedilemma @RaspberryCoulis Seems like a complete mix - maybe dependant on how busy an area you’re in? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔 hopefully won’t be long until our envelopes arrive and I can try to reschedule DH 🤞🏼

My mum struggled in February. I did wonder as last weekend was a holiday weekend that people had rescheduled to get away or go out x

KM38 · 28/05/2021 12:18

@Groovee Oh yeah, I’m forgetting the holiday weekends etc! I dare say that now that travel is allowed people will be postponing them for all kinds of trips 😓 personally I wouldn’t be postponing unless I had absolutely no other option! Fingers crossed I can get DH booked in ASAP for a time when he’ll be home 🤞🏼

Glad you asked this I need to take my baby as well and I will put her in a buggy but I’d wondered if they’d have an issue with it.

KM38 · 28/05/2021 12:50

@SGChome20 Hopefully they’ll be fine with it 🤞🏼😊 I was just unsure as he wasn’t even allowed back into the maternity unit for an appointment I had so thought everywhere else would be the same about kids!

OP posts:
SGChome20 · 28/05/2021 13:26

Yeah hopefully! I think it’s maybe different if it’s toddlers running about but if they’re contained hopefully it’s ok!!

GrandPrismatic · 29/05/2021 11:52

Just back from first vaccination and ended up having to take both my under 6 kids due to childcare challenge...no problem at all...they were lovely with the kids and there were a few others there too including babies. You will be fine with the little one.

KM38 · 29/05/2021 13:16

@GrandPrismatic Thanks for the update! That’s great you’ve had your first vaccine 😊 and that they were good with the kids 😊 hopefully it’ll be the same here 🤞🏼ours start on Monday for our age bracket and run for 3 weeks but no letters yet. Hoping we’ll get them this week 🤞🏼

Tried to reschedule mine due to an emergency dental appointment and there was nothing showing at all online. It was easy enough to get through on the phone after a bit of a wait, but they couldn’t find an alternative date, so the advice was to “go anyway and see”. So I had a fun morning of dentist and then scurrying as fast as possible to get to the vaccine centre. But my teeth are ok and I’m fully vaccinated. Hope you can reschedule more easily!

KM38 · 29/05/2021 20:32

Oh what a pain @GlasgowsGreen 😓 Glad it worked out and you managed to get to both!! Hoping it’s straight forward and I can get another date soon for DH once our letters come through 🤞🏼 Although he’s restricted by his work schedule quite severely so date options are limited!

You can reschedule online. I phoned yesterday and couldn't get anything anywhere. I logged on to the nhs vacs site and again couldn't get anything at all even if travelling a fair distance. Logged on again this morning and there was numerous options so I got rebooked. My advice would be to keep checking as it seems slots are released all the time.
