How to prove I've had my double vaccine?

52andblue · 16/05/2021 18:08

I have now, as of Friday, had both my shots of Ox/AZ vaccine.
Very grateful.
With my 1st (6th Mar) I got a leaflet with batch number written in biro.
With my 2nd, no batch number was given.
I asked if I got some sort of card to put in wallet / could download on an App but was told 'your GP has the record so you can get a letter though they might charge or call them for an appointment to go in and take a pic of it if you really want'.
This seems a bit daft. Surely the GP practices don't want lots of folk calling in?
I want to travel to see family as soon as I am allowed and will need to stay in a hotel. It seems sensible to be able to show I am 2 x jabbed?

I was given a card with the details on it but there is also an nhs app (that’s different from track and trace app)and if you register with it you can pull up your covid vaccine details 😊

KingdomScrolls · 16/05/2021 18:17

I was told to take my card to my second appointment and they added details of the second jab on there. I've also got mine on the app but I don't think that's available in Scotland yet

KingdomScrolls · 16/05/2021 18:19

Sorry no idea why I thought you were in Scotland! If you're in England it will be on the NHS app

Invisimamma · 16/05/2021 18:19

The app mentioned above is for England. There is no vaccine passport/card system in Scotland (yet) , it should be recorded and linked to your CHI number.

Probably because this is posted in Scotsnet

Yes, I am in Scotland.

I was surprised as:
a. useful to have a batch number if a problem
b. hopeless to tell folk to 'call GP' over proof
c. would make sense for proof to be easily 'carry-able' surely?

A card would be to easily faked. Don't know what the system will be in Scotland. Not even clear what we might need it for.

DogsSausages · 16/05/2021 18:37

Do you have electronic medical records where you live that you can sign up with your g.p

LizzieMacQueen · 16/05/2021 18:42

I didn't even get a card with my first vaccine & neither did others in my area (Forth Valley). I'll be hugely unimpressed if we need to pay a notional fee to our gp for proof. I say notional but I bet it'll be £50+

Chemenger · 16/05/2021 18:50

I have absolutely nothing to show that I have had one vaccination. The NHS app that is always cited as the way of proving vaccination isn’t available in Scotland, is it? I’m pretty sure my GP doesn’t have online access to records. Every letter I’ve ever had from my GP has cost at least £30 and taken weeks. There seems to be no word of how this will work here.

52andblue · 16/05/2021 18:54

My GP can't even tell me my kids blood groups and charges £50 for everything (single A4 copy of a letter for DLA application for a child)

I thought we should be given the batch number so that if there is a bad reaction then we can quote it when calling in on the Yellow card system. Or does that not work either?
It's great I've had my jabs. But it's a pity its not better organised.

HUCKMUCK · 16/05/2021 19:01

Your GP won’t know your kids blood groups. It’s not routinely tested for. They only charge for things that are non NHS tasks.

latissimusdorsi · 16/05/2021 19:30

There is no way to prove vaccination at moment in Scotland. Gov doesn't want people to travel so not going to make it easy!

Riapia · 16/05/2021 19:44

I was given a card which has the type of vaccine, dates and batch numbers on it.
It also says “make sure you keep this record card in your purse or wallet.”
I assume I am able to use this card as proof of vaccination.

latissimusdorsi · 16/05/2021 20:17

I don't think cards will he accepted as proof, particularly for travel. Too easy to forge

cocopops · 16/05/2021 21:07

The letter inviting you for the vaccine has a unique username on it. You can use this to register with the NHS website, also detailed on the letter. Once you do that, it has electronic details of when you had the vaccine. I’ve only had the first jab so far but have taken a screenshot, just in case!

I found this out by accident when I went online to see if there was a date for my second. Someone on Facebook alerted me to the ability to do this.

I didn't get a letter. I was (by mistake) on the shielding list. I shouldn't have been on it but telling NHS Scotland I didn't need to be on it made no difference. My GP practice contacted me by phone. I have nothing at all which shows I've had my first vaccination (second due on Tuesday)
LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 16/05/2021 22:15

I also did not get a letter, I was summonsed as I am on the flu jab list....it was a late lunchtime call and "can you be in for 5 pm??"

I was so excited to have had the first jab I completely forgot to ask about a card with details and presumed I'd get one at the second jab....booked for friday.

cocopops · 17/05/2021 06:56

Gosh- snarky comments like this is why I generally don’t bother posting on this site. I was just trying to be helpful advising on the username/letter route.

It was stressed to me at the major vaccination centre where I had my jab in that no cards or written confirmation was being given by them/ not even a card. For the majority of us who received a letter, hope the info in my post helps.

For others, there’s always an exception to a general rule. No idea what you do.

KatySun · 17/05/2021 07:23

cocopops I found what you said helpful, as I did get a letter. I am going to have a look.

RaspberryCoulis · 17/05/2021 07:50

I am in Scotland and didn't get a card. The only think you can do is to log into the website which lets you rearrange your booking - you will need your letter which came from the NHS to get your user name.

vacs.nhs.scot/csp?id=vaccine_appointment_list

Once i've logged into that site it shows the date and time of my first covid vaccination and under status it says "completed".

RaspberryCoulis · 17/05/2021 07:51

But that method is a complete faff compared with just opening an app on your phone.

NailsNeedDoing · 17/05/2021 07:53

I got the card, but it doesn’t prove anything because it doesn’t have my name on it. I could easily give it to an unvaccinated friend to put in her purse instead, it means nothing.

rookiemere · 17/05/2021 08:20

@cocopops that's really helpful to know thank you.

A friends DM insisted on the vaccine centre signing her cruise book ( a bit like DCs red book ) where all vaccinations are noted. First time it was signed, second time the vaccinator refused to do it. She then went to the her doctors surgery who also refused to do it on the basis that they hadn't done the vaccine, so couldn't confirm. She went back to the vaccination centre - EICC - and kicked up a huge fuss until finally someone did sign it.

Of course has no legal validity though.

Chunkymenrock · 17/05/2021 08:33

Just email your practice and say please could you receive written confirmation of the vaccines you've received and the batch numbers.
