How to prove I've had my double vaccine?

52andblue · 16/05/2021 18:08

I have now, as of Friday, had both my shots of Ox/AZ vaccine.
Very grateful.
With my 1st (6th Mar) I got a leaflet with batch number written in biro.
With my 2nd, no batch number was given.
I asked if I got some sort of card to put in wallet / could download on an App but was told 'your GP has the record so you can get a letter though they might charge or call them for an appointment to go in and take a pic of it if you really want'.
This seems a bit daft. Surely the GP practices don't want lots of folk calling in?
I want to travel to see family as soon as I am allowed and will need to stay in a hotel. It seems sensible to be able to show I am 2 x jabbed?

@cocopops

The letter inviting you for the vaccine has a unique username on it. You can use this to register with the NHS website, also detailed on the letter. Once you do that, it has electronic details of when you had the vaccine. I’ve only had the first jab so far but have taken a screenshot, just in case!

I found this out by accident when I went online to see if there was a date for my second. Someone on Facebook alerted me to the ability to do this.

@cocopops - ah THANK YOU VERY MUCH - VERY HELPFUL :)

I did get a letter both times so I will try this later on, thanks so much!
The first time I was worried I might not be able to attend (single parent to two kids with ASD and no cover at that time) so I'd called the helpline but been told it 'was not set up yet'. I guess since then it has been.

It's not so much about travel as I rarely go anywhere and don't think it's responsible to travel abroad this summer anyway but it IS important to know which batch of vaccine you had so you can report issues if necessary. People should be given this information I think.

I've just logged on and done that. I now have a screenshot of when and where I had my two vaccines. Not easy to read due to layout meaning NHS logo & username far apart so have to take pic of whole screen but better than nothing for sure. No batch numbers.

Guess I'll need to bother my GP after all.
I was speaking to a friend across the border in England who is high up in provision of nursing homes (and thus had a terrible year last year and has nowt good to say about Westminster). But even she said that it was wasteful to create an extra layer of admin / barrier to accurate reporting of potential batch issues like this. HO hum.

Sorry a bit slow this am. It opens much more clearly on my phone.
Thanks again @cocopops
Should have said: 'I would need to bother my GP in case of vaccine reaction issue to get batch number to report responsibly.
I've had less of a reaction on 2nd dose of Ox/Az than first so no worries.

Gosh- snarky comments like this is why I generally don’t bother posting on this site

What was "snarky" in the posts by posters, including mine, saying we didn't get letters???

Changethetoner · 17/05/2021 14:33

My jabs were not done at my GP practice. I went to a hub, nowhere was I asked about who my GP was. I wonder if they even know I have been vaccinated?
I have no way of proving I've had them. Oh well, as PP mentioned, it's probably cos Nicola wants us all to stay at home.

blackwingedstilt · 17/05/2021 15:49

@RaspberryCoulis

I am in Scotland and didn't get a card. The only think you can do is to log into the website which lets you rearrange your booking - you will need your letter which came from the NHS to get your user name.

vacs.nhs.scot/csp?id=vaccine_appointment_list

Once i've logged into that site it shows the date and time of my first covid vaccination and under status it says "completed".

My status said "completed" even though I hadn't been able to attend the first appointment I was sent.
Bytheloch · 17/05/2021 16:45

Didn’t even have my correct address on the system when I went for 1st vacc. I asked if it could be changed, but no as it comes from a central database, apparently? So I had my 1st vacc whilst attached to a previous address and GP, didn’t have to prove my new one in any way. The chances of getting proof of jag with the current systems in place seem slim🤷‍♀️

ScotlandUnited · 18/05/2021 16:42

if England uses an app and Scotland uses something different then border control abroad could get confused and refuse us entry couldn't they?

MrsAmaretto · 18/05/2021 18:12

Scotland is waiting on the WHO to decide what evidence of vaccination will be required.

Utterly pointless developing a Scotland only system if it’s not recognised across the world or is easily forged. Likewise why would the NHS spend money on administering a letter of proof etc if they will have to do something different in 6months time?

MrsAmaretto · 18/05/2021 18:13

@Bytheloch the vaccine record is linked to you CHI number, your address and GP don’t matter.

MissBarbary · 18/05/2021 23:40
@Bytheloch the vaccine record is linked to you CHI number, your address and GP don’t matter.
That only applies if you got a letter with that number. I didn't. I got a phone call from my GP. I was at the GP today for my second vaccination today. The single practice nurse there was rattling through people. She ticked off names on a clipboard and I didn't see any indication she was marking batch numbers against names

My son was vaccinated as he is a key worker. He was told by his employer to book an appointment. His first vaccination was in Dalkeith although he lives in Edinburgh; his second one was at ERI in Edinburgh. Like me , he has no paperwork at all. I'm not sure he's even registered with a GP. There isn't a hope in hell my son would have known what his "CHI" number is if he had been asked for it, which he wasn't.

I asked the practice nurse today about how to prove I have been vaccinated and she said they don't know. The practice hasn't been given any information about it.

More like non- existent.

RaspberryCoulis · 19/05/2021 08:31

Just logged into my vaccine site portal thing this morning and a new tab has appeared at the top along with past and upcoming appointments - VACCINATION STATUS.

It shows my name, DOB, that I was vaccinated in Scotland, the date, the fact that it was Biontech and there's a blank space underneath for the 2nd dose details.

And a "download" button to download the info as a .pdf.

So that's a vaccine passport then, isn't it?

RaspberryCoulis · 19/05/2021 08:32

Oh and the bit I can access does not have a batch number so it's fairly clear that this info is held elsewhere and it's not relevant for whatever the download is - a vaccine passport.

FLOrenze · 19/05/2021 08:58

Download the NHS app. To register you need your NH Number and identification, passport or D/L. It only takes a couple of minutes and once registered, all yourvvaccines are there.

It is a great app, you can see your allergies, medications and all of your health records. For the later you have to email your surgery to you want them. Mine took about two weeks to come through.

The records were fascinating, going back to childhood hospital admissions.

RedcurrantPuff · 19/05/2021 09:17

I wasn’t given a card but if you register and log in to the NHS inform/Vaccine website using the unique name that was on your vaccine letter this shows you’ve had your vaccine. I did this and took a screenshot which is on my phone.

Do you mean the NHS England App? Not much use in Scotland (this is in Scotsnet, easy to miss)
BashfulClam · 19/05/2021 12:18

I’ve just downloaded mine from nhs inform. Your appointment letter has a username . vacs.nhs.scot/csp

I didn't get a letter.

That site is no help at all unless your appointment was made by letter.

RedcurrantPuff · 19/05/2021 15:26

@MissBarbary did you get an email? My husband got his by email and there’s a link to the site and a username in that that can be used to register.

LouScot · 19/05/2021 15:29

If you're able to get into the vacs.nhs.scot site you'll now be able to download the details of your vaccine, with batch number etc. If you don't have the user name that came on the letter then obviously this is no good to you sorry, not sure how you'd go about getting that - did you get a text at all?
Could try the vaccine line - details on nhs inform-but not sure if they'll be able to help.

MissBarbary · 19/05/2021 15:31

Ok - you can get a username from that site. It only shows I've had one vaccination, not 2.

No- both appointments were made by the GP practice calling me.

That site does, eventually lead to a link where you can "recover" the username. It only shows 1 vaccination.

RedcurrantPuff · 19/05/2021 16:47

Bummer @MissBarbary. Hope it updates soon
