Moving near to Inverness

Hi there we're going to be moving to Newmore, near Invergordon and Alness, within the next few months. Just wondering if anybody on here lives around there? We have 2 kids (12 and 15) who will both be attending high school. I think we'll be in the catchment area for Invergordon Academy but wondering what the two schools are like as I'm assuming we may be able to request placements at Alness Academy (which is a much newer school). Also wondering if there are any clubs, etc which would help integrate them into the area (assuming that anything is open by the time we move!). We're hopefully aiming to move when the school year ends at the end of June. From previous posts on here regarding moving to the area we are completely used with the remoteness as moving from a more remote area (we currently live on one of the Scottish Islands).

I live in Inverness know this area well. Alness is a newer and much nicer looking school but has been rated one of the worst schools in Scotland for years as far as I know. Invergordon seems generally better. Alness may have improved with it being a new school though. There isn’t a huge amount to do as a teenager out that way unless they are particularly outdoorsy but people in Invergordon tend to be friendly.

Thanks 😊 fairly sure they’ll be in the catchment for Invergorden so will probably just stick with that then! We’re expecting to be driving quiet a bit to drive them different places but we’ll be happy with that.

I think Newmore is Invergorden catchment. The majority of the activities are in Inverness though prior to COVID there was activities around Ross shire on.
