@ATieLikeRichardGere

Really someone with some moral high ground should have asked the police to investigate the Daily Record leak before now. It’s kind of ridiculous that AS is the one left to do that.
Agreed.
happygolurkey · 24/03/2021 19:09

Salmond who tried to stop the name being released

He was pulled up at the inquiry for not going through the right procedure when submitting evidence - something he also got slammed for in the inquiry report as he did it repeatedly putting the complainants at risk of identification. He seems to just care about it when it suits him

TheShadowyFeminist · 24/03/2021 19:11

@RedactedTaeFeck

Election coming up and maybe they've started to realise that biological women are about 50% of the population and the trans community is about 0.5% and they've fucked it up.
Not if the twitter output from Kirsty Blackman has anything to do with it.

He seems to just care about it when it suits him and do you think NS and the rest who were also slammed for not providing support and who probably leaked the name in the first place care anything about the women other than it being an opportunity to get at AS? Really?

boobashka · 24/03/2021 19:14

@OhBuggerandArse

If you google a famous tennis mum and "house for sale" together with NS you will find some more info...

She's also got a house in Portugal apparently.

There's obviously good money to be made at Holyrood. Not bad for someone who hates the "Toarries...."

RedactedTaeFeck · 24/03/2021 19:16

FFS @TheShadowyFeminist.

Bloody hell Shadowy that's frightening.

TheShadowyFeminist · 24/03/2021 19:20

The FWS JR loss, along with Sturgeon scraping through this, has certainly emboldened some of the 'extreme' views to sprout forth without as much as a riddy.

TheShadowyFeminist · 24/03/2021 19:24

Twitter is awash with comments on who could have leaked the report to the DR & who may have ordered that.

Statistically I'm paying much closer attention to your posts as you called this ages ago. I didn't think there was any legs left on this but they just got up for a sprint around the block in preparation for another outing 😁

RedactedTaeFeck · 24/03/2021 19:25

There’s an excellent fish and chip shop nearby, wonder if she’s tried it.

That's my local chippy!!!

Selkiesarereal · 24/03/2021 19:51

I am very bitter over this. NS sat at that enquiry and apologised to the women of the investigation and to my mind it’s just crocodile tears.

No one has been sacked for the appalling handling of the internal investigation and the leak to the daily record was never investigated. If she was a true champion for these women, the leak in itself should have spurred her to act but yet nothing happened and now she is crowing on about being exonerated except in the eyes of common decency she is certainly not.

RonSwan · 24/03/2021 20:12

Any legally types know how long it would take a case to come to court?

TheShadowyFeminist · 24/03/2021 20:18

That's the 'how long is a piece of string' sort of Q. We don't yet know the specifics or what's being asked yet. I think the comments about the 'powers of recovery of documents' suggests something might happen fairly quickly but given Scotgov's track record to date, they'll do their best to drag everything out as long as possible. Evans' contract could actually expire before they get to anything meaningful!

Hoping for a solicitor to comment in detail once we get a bit more info on what's happening.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/03/2021 20:30

Plus god only knows what the covid related court case backlog is

Oh dear. I didn't report this but I'm guessing personal attacks don't get a pass here either. There was me thinking that FWR was the only place that rule applied 😁
dementedma · 24/03/2021 20:50

Poor Bridge of Allan. Losing Murray and gaining Sturgeon. What has such a nice wee place done to deserve housing two harridans?

RedactedTaeFeck · 24/03/2021 20:52

I wonder if passing the planning on Park of Keir is part of the house deal..?

happygolurkey · 24/03/2021 21:04

RedactedTaeFeck
There's also the small matter that if Alex Salmond hadn't acted inappropriately in the first place (which he admitted) there wouldn't be any complainants needing protecting. But that doesn't seem to figure at all. It's everyone's fault but Alex Salmond's. Absolutely fawned over by the likes of Margaret Mitchell when he turned up at that inquiry and treated like some kind of hero on here.
ah well...some things never change

boobashka · 24/03/2021 21:06

@RedactedTaeFeck

I wondered the same!!

happygolurkey · 24/03/2021 21:06

Probably. David Davis probably has all the evidence - he'll probably be reading the whats app message out in parliament

RedactedTaeFeck · 24/03/2021 21:13

I agree but he had a trial and was found innocent apart from one case which was unproved and he's admitted that one. I'm not sure what else you think should happen? They trawled to find other complainants and what they came up with was ridiculous and at least one of the complainants were lying.

Do you think he should go spend time in jail for things he hasn't done - is that all that would satisfy people?

I think that trying to get someone put in prison for things they haven't done is abhorrent.

If there is more to it then people should be bringing that forward but the shit show of what scotgov presided over will no doubt discourage others.

He might be sleazy as feck and to be honest i was one of the folk who was ready to believe it. But if he was so inappropriate then where is the evidence and why wasn't he found guilty?

The main person who should have been supported was the case where it wasn't proven and he admitted and apologised. That person continued to work directly with him even though they were offered an alternative - it doesn't really seem like jail type behaviour to me.

ATieLikeRichardGere · 24/03/2021 22:45

The idea that if Alex Salmond hadn’t behaved inappropriately then everything would have been ok holds no sway with me, because the level of incompetence (at best) that this whole debacle has brought to light can’t have be limited to only this particular arena of the Scottish Government’s activities. And it has raised uncomfortable questions about the role of the crown office, the powers of parliament, the mechanisms of accountability etc.

TheShadowyFeminist · 24/03/2021 22:53

This is quite funny

OhBuggerandArse · 24/03/2021 23:06

Him not having behaved inappropriately wouldn't have stopped someone making a false claim of rape or government officials from suborning other witnesses to give false testimony to establish a 'pattern of behaviour'. If that is what happened, and there are a number of very credible people who think it is, there are more than uncomfortable questions to answer - that is criminal activity at the highest level of government.
