Where to buy?

This question has probably been done to death but... I currently live in quite a pricey area but need a bigger house. I am priced out the local market as the cost of a three bedroom house is astronomical at the moment given the popularity of the area. Where in Glasgow/ East Dunbartonshire can I find a nice three bedroom house for about £170,000? I do know some bits of Glasgow but not the housing market that well and I know there are some places that I wouldn't consider. Looking for ideas please on some nice, family friendly places with decent schools that aren't out of control price wise? Perhaps an impossible question!

I managed to get a three bed in ED (Kirkintilloch) for that but it needed a lot of work done and I'm all honesty it's tiny. It does have three bedrooms and is detached but it's small.

There are decent semi detached in both kirky and lenzie for that. Probably bigger than this.

Thanks @snowcoveredcampsies hardly anything on the market just now. Hard to gauge what might be possible!

Have you thought about extending your current home?

ComfortorLenor · 20/03/2021 22:59

It's a very narrow terraced house so I'm not sure it would be possible...I don't know much about these things though!

There are small numbers of ex LA houses in Milngavie where until very recently you could have got a 3 bed for £180,000.
Recently due to the stamp duty holiday, prices have gone mad. i'm hoping they will fall again once it ends.

Think that's quite a big ask at the moment - you'd maybe need to keek somewhere without a train station or such like. I know the Victorian terraces our friends lived in years ago in Maryhill are going for 200k now.
There are 3 bed cottage flats in knightswood I think.

Had a look on Rightmove and saw this - looks like a nice wee area.
