Help with nursery fees in Scotland

Hi there does anyone know if free hours of nursery (i.e. help towards private nursery fees) is means tested at all in Scotland? and how much does the free hours work out as? Thanks

It is means tested age 2, not age 3 all 3 year olds are entitled to some funding.

What age is your child?

No not means tested at age 3- 30hrs per week term time only which I think is 38 weeks a year.

Yes I think it has gone up to 38 a week for 3 year olds which is not means tested.

Also depends on what nursery you use, it does get complicated with private nurseries as their fees are higher than the funding amount.

Our private nursery is open 10 hours a day, 50 weeks a year so full time = 2500, funding (30*38)= 1140 so there’s a gap of 1360 to full time or 113hrs per month which we have to pay for. You can still use childcare vouchers/tax free childcare towards the gap
