'Okay but it still remains that the 29th March or 2nd April was not the first time she was aware of potential issues which she was worried about.'

she never said it was. she said the meeting with Salmond was when he told her about the complaint - and showed her the letter he'd got about it

Ruth Davidson getting pulled up on Ch4 re calling for the FM to resign before she'd been in front of the committee and also embellishing the witness statement.

happygolurkey · 04/03/2021 15:32

Snowdrop's snark was generally focused rather than at an individual, so it jarred when I saw your comment.

Fair enough. I feel there were a number of posts which were very contemptious in tone - and very patronising toward Scots and the many talented people here - journalists, politicians, legal profession and so on, although i'm not trying to pretend everything's hunky dorey. I maybe shouldn't have singled out Snowdrop. I apologise. I don't think i 'deflect' though - it just seems to be every time i write a response to something someone else has posted everyone starts saying 'it's not about that'

GirlLovesWorld · 04/03/2021 15:34

I do think they look foolish calling on her to resign before she'd spoken; anyone who might have been tempted to agree might be put off by their blatant opportunism.

I think I feel about RD how many of you feel about NS - I literally have to steel myself to listen to her.

Her attitude's abhorrent -she said that Scots are work shy and on benefits. She is not a good role model for young girls.

I've came to realise that yesterday showed yet again what poor opposition we have in Scotland.

happygolurkey · 04/03/2021 15:47

thanks StarryEyeSurprise

Interesting. Krishnan Guru-Murthy's been a bit more on the ball than some journalists on this

Oh please let's not have another SNP = Nazism trope pulled out. It's beyond ridiculous and speaking as someone with at least seven dead Jewish relatives, pretty offensive.

throwingawaymyshot · 04/03/2021 15:59

My grandmother was German. My grandfather was Irish.

Both of them hated the SNP.

I think they knew better than anyone the dangers of nationalism.

GirlLovesWorld · 04/03/2021 16:01

Yeah...fascism and civic nationalism are really not the same thing.

StarryEyeSurprise · 04/03/2021 16:02

And speaking as someone who had studied The Holocaust at Yad Vashem - @ annabelinda, stop. It's vile.

kittykat22 · 04/03/2021 16:09

There's a thread on chat about this case which may possibly answer the question of how people outwith Scotland see it...seems in the main they're not too bothered and think it's been made in to too big a deal and given too much coverage, quite interesting

QuentinWinters · 04/03/2021 16:16

Ha. I'm on that thread too, thats not how I read it at all. I wish the Westminster government was held as closely to account.

kurtrussellsbeard · 04/03/2021 16:30

She was asked to apologise for pretending that Alec Salmond was trustworthy when she believed him not to be.

@WaxOnFeckOff that's an absolute lot of rot. You're just making up nonsense now. Haha I actually can't believe you typed that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

anon444877 · 04/03/2021 16:31

I'm wondering how exactly Nicola or anyone else in the government has been held to account? As far as I can tell nobody has had any actions against them for their mistakes, all that's happened is it's been talked about and there are the usual sides lining up on Twitter.

Someone being held to account for multiple failures should have tangible actions. Not assertions that justice has been done.

happygolurkey · 04/03/2021 16:52

@WaxedOnFEckOff

she apologised in her opening remarks for the mistakes and to the complainants let down etc etc

later, Murdo Fraser asked her to apologise - the words were to the effect that she should say sorry for duping people into trusting Alex Salmond!! Which I'm sure you'll agree is pretty ridiculous.
At that point, she said she had already apologised for her mistakes, she was quite happy to say sorry for anything she had done, but not for someone else's actions.

As you'll be aware, the FM rightly took a hands off approach due to her history with AS. Leslie Evans may be gone soon.
WouldBeGood · 04/03/2021 16:54

That’s true @anon444877.

If I behaved as she has in my job I would be required to resign.

Eh?, I'm trying to explain in the simplest of terms (since you didn't understand when I explained previously) what the question was. I'm not saying that was what the truth was. Since she didn't actually answer the question and instead answered one that she made up.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/03/2021 16:58

Have you actually watched it @kurtrussellsbeard?

So far nobody has been held to account. Nobody has been disciplined, nobody's lost their job, some have even had a pay rise.
IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 04/03/2021 17:06

The irony in that statement 🤦‍♀️

Has anyone seen any further documents yet?

StatisticallyChallenged · 04/03/2021 17:09

Is that aimed at me isurvive? Cos I'm nit seeing the irony
