@littlbrowndog

But many Scottish people myself included have rellies in other countries so they are interested.

Are they called the diaspora?

Well of course but that doesn't mean that Scottish politics is in the spotlight across the world and we are coming off in a bad light.

It means that a small number of people across the world might be interested.

I've got relatives in France but I've not been following the whole Sarkozy thing. I just know roughly what happened. I'm so detached from it all I have no judgment.

Scottishskifun · 03/03/2021 22:07

People pay attention to headlines and what that portrays. I don't know a lot about Australian politics but I definitely remember the sex bill which came in for ministers to ban them having relationships with staff.....

For Scotland it will be the same this whole debacle will be reported in the press and it doesn't paint scottish politics in a good light either way..... Its a lose on all basis!

littlbrowndog · 03/03/2021 22:08

I think they are kit

Scottish people live throughout the world. There is an interest

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 22:09

So to get back on track, Salmond is to appear again. And Swinney is lodging more documents.

It trundles on.

littlbrowndog · 03/03/2021 22:09

Is he ? Wow

littlbrowndog · 03/03/2021 22:10

Jeez what more documents

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/03/2021 22:10

@Motheroffourdragons

Oh dear Wax was that to me again? Is it not true? Is Boris telling the truth? Matt Hancock not giving contracts to his pals? Etc Etc?

This is not in the same league.

You can't speak bad of the Tories here. 🙈 Only SNP bad allowed!

Nicola forgot a meeting which meant hee haw as a big meeting took place a couple of days later.

Johnson porouged Parliament illegally to ensure we left the EU ( also based on his lie). But Nicola must resign! Scotland has been shamed internationally! People are being professionally affected! Give me strength. Really.

daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 22:12

I dont' get all this 'saw a woman today on camera from 9am to 5pm' and didn't she do well, blah blah.

She should have been desperate to be there if it took another 8 hours in the name of defending Scotland's integrity, she should have been happy to work with humility to show Scotland and its reputation are her priority.

Instead we got a performance of full of hubris, flippancy, mockery and latterly looking at her watch as if to say 'how much longer?'.
She couldn't bear being on the receiving end of other people's requests.

It was a disgusting spectacle and that's without even examining the actual 'testimony'. Under OATH she told lie after lie.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 22:13

We are governed by the SNP. It's like a toddler getting told no more chocolate. But the tories is always the argument. They are an utter shower of shite I know that and would happily contribute to a thread about this but this thread is in reference to devolved government matters.

I can't see any documents online yet and it's getting late. Is that hood or bad do you think?

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 22:13

Saw it on Twitter unless I’m dreaming. He’s lodged more documents too.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 22:14

I seen it @WouldBeGood but haven't actually seen any yet

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 22:14

Giving evidence for hours is quite normal in court proceedings.

ShowmetheSnowdrops · 03/03/2021 22:14

The nitty gritty of this may not be fascinating to people outside Scotland but if SNP supporters truly want independence, you better get your head round the fact that potential investors from London, NY, HK, wherever want a robust, functioning democracy.

If you don’t have that, investors won’t be keen or worse they’ll spot an opportunity to make a lot of money out of you.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 22:15

Thank goodness @IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 I was worried as I’m sleepy and thought I’d started dreaming about Salmond and Swinney 🤢

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 22:16

Westminster really has very little to do with day to day life in Scotland for me. It's the Scottish government and their actions that affect how much tax i pay, my infrastructure, health, education, businesses etc

And again, that's not what this thread is about.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/03/2021 22:17

Don't know what the new papers will be. However maybe the Scottish government can find the rest of the documents they failed to provide some time as well

That would be nice 🤔

LexMitior · 03/03/2021 22:17

Neil isn’t deflection so much as a really good example of modern Scottish politics. For he’s done very well out the union, working in London and then internationally. His actual politics which are right wing don’t matter as much as what he does.

Neil is a good journalist. He likes facts and has a good grasp of them. He embarasses the blatherer and blusterer. He did a great take down of very right wing guy, Ben Shapiro in the US and was called a liberal for his trouble.

I like he annoys people; often he seems right to have done so, left, right and centre.

If you can’t accept that’s part of Scotland then it’s a poorer place than I thought. You don’t have to dig his politics to see he does his job well, inquiry without fear or favour.

I would rather Neil had interviewed NS than the Committee. I would have learned more I suspect.

daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 22:18

George Galloway has teamed up with Ruth and will be encouraging people to vote Tory in May!

That should shake up the crowd at Gordon Lamb House.

noego · 03/03/2021 22:18

@allShowmetheSnowdrops

Already working on an exit strategy

I think I read Swinney is providing more..?

You're right. Hence the need to get rid of the embarrassingly corrupt to the core, racist and inept beyond belief, Westminster Government.

Glad we are in agreement.

And again, that's not what this thread is about.

This thread is about whatever the many posters on the thread choose to talk about. Some posters want to talk about Westminster because of the hypocrisy and I think that's understandable.

As I've said it's perfectly natural for some poster, maybe not you, to compare governments because of our relatively unique make up in the UK.

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 22:21

I really know very little about Neil but it's hard to find people who will really challenge people properly and keep going until they get an answer.

That's what is really lacking.

Interested to see what is coming next - the actual costs of failed action?

And to keep trying to bring this whole thing back to "she forgot a meeting so what?" is absurd.

To try and elevate it to Watergate levels is what's absurd.
