As the conversation is interesting and the thread is nearly full. Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/scotsnet/4153007-Does-it-matter-if-Sturgeon-is-guilty-do-you-know-or-care

Oh dear.. it seems clear why the SG didn’t want this published

Salmond v Sturgeon Round 2.
happygolurkey · 02/03/2021 18:23

is she me daisy?

i didn't claim to be befuddled or confused and I 'demanded' nothing - it is other people on here, including yourself, who have repeatedly questioned my intelligence. (which, incidentally, I have never done to anyone else here. Likewise I've never abused, sworn at or demeaned anyone here as others have done to me). I did ask questions for clarification on certain points, which i don't think are unreasonable.

So pointing out there's a court order constitutes 'giving legal advice'?
Every single person here (other than yourself, apparently) knows there is a court order protecting the anonymity of the complainants - it's been a central part the case and discussion.

wouldbegood - always longing for discussion, aren't you? yet seem to fly off the handle, change the subject, claim 'it's not about that' or get abusive whenever you get the opportunity

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/03/2021 18:23

Just looking just now - they said earlier it would be tomorrow so I wasn't looking!

Dinnafashyersel · 02/03/2021 18:28

Big Red Button pushed. Tories tabling VoNC in Sturgeon.

WouldBeGood · 02/03/2021 18:29

And this is the key stuff they said they’d release.. goodness knows what the rest says.

LexMitior · 02/03/2021 18:31

A lot hangs on Sturgeon's performance tomorrow - if its not good, expect more and more information to start circulating afterwards from former allies who have now calculated they have something to lose. She will then have committed herself publicly and risks being found wanting if so.

Btw the legal opinion of those lawyers is not shocking - what is probably much more extraordinary that NS may have been advised that she was and had acted unlawfully and continued. That really does cross a line and is actually much worse (imo) really than this issue about lying to the Scottish Parliament.

Who is IO? Referred to in @WouldBeGood screenshot? (I’m struggling to keep up sorry!)

@happygolurkey

astroturfing the deceptive practice of presenting an orchestrated marketing or public relations campaign in the guise of unsolicited comments from members of the public.

as I say, I'd never heard of this before, but I do get a bit suspicious of threads sometimes - and now I've heard about this a lot of things fall into place. Sometimes you'll get a thread started by someone and it's their very first post on mumsnet - they claim the issue doesn't relate to them too much personally but wondered what others thought (say it is attacking a person for example and they'll say, 'I'm surprised, I actually quite like so and so.. or have no real feelings about so and so.' Then two or three posts later along comes someone equally uninvested and neutral about the issue. whose never thought too much about it before until now either. A few posts later they have to hand stacks and stacks of information that it seems like it would take months to research. the original poster's disappeared by now - but pops up now and again, say if, the suddenly very well informed poster gets stuck or asked an awkward question.
Anyway, apologies. Straying away from the thread there - and there is definitely more important things going on. Geoff Aberdein's statement for example - very interesting indeed

@happy I found this statement pretty insulting. It describes the tone I used to start thread 1 and the informed and intelligent debate it led to. Also my low profile and occasional appearances on here (I have a life/job). It's pretty snide and insinuating. In fact it does remind me of what's become the SNP m.o.

More broadly today I was struck by a comment @LexMitior made: "a rather excellent Scottish idea called the Enlightenment. This is the Scotland I consider could make a go of independence, not these ideological people who prey on emotions and bitterness." I completely agree. The Sturgeon SNP seems to me to have become quite terrifying and authoritarian.

@RonSwan the Information Officer.

WhiskyIrnBru · 02/03/2021 18:53

@daisyfraser

I don't see what possible difference it makes knowing who the women are. They are being completely used by Sturgeon to make her very feeble case appear altruistic when it was no such thing. And in fact it would make more sense if the women realised this and went public to neutralise their 'weaponisation' Just my thoughts.
I think knowing that one of the women is related to a senior MP, is relevant.
WouldBeGood · 02/03/2021 18:53

Oops, sorry investigating officer

Sturgeon facing calls to quit story also in the Herald.
Her own lieutenants are turning on her now.

littlbrowndog · 02/03/2021 19:02

Lot of documents being released

littlbrowndog · 02/03/2021 19:03

The Duncan Hamilton one

Coquohvan · 02/03/2021 19:08

Gosh those links. Wowzer.

GintyMcGinty · 02/03/2021 19:08

It's all getting exciting tonight.

anon444877 · 02/03/2021 19:09

I'm hoping against hope that some journalist or MSP asks Sturgeon tomorrow about hiding behind victim protection for political ends.

There are so many issues here but overall, having made a dog's dinner of all of this, the policy, the investigations, the prosecution - hiding behind victim protection has been the bitter end.

The coverage on the tv news til now has been dire.

WouldBeGood · 02/03/2021 19:10

I’m actually gobsmacked by these documents. Was not expecting that.
