@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst

On the upside, at least lockdown hasn't been extended this time. Small mercies.
And as someone perhaps on another thread pointed out, at least there's some unwinding of restrictions since our west of Scotland circuit break back in September which just got more and more draconian!
anon444877 · 16/02/2021 18:35

Other than p1-p3 and nursery going back (which is nice, unless you have kids with ASN, seems they're excluded) - there aren't any other changes are there?

I didn't see a whole lot of end of lockdown, did I miss it and shops are allowed to reopen?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 16/02/2021 18:51

She bloody well did extend lockdown 🤦‍♀️ until at least the middle of March even then it might be family visits possibly and then non essential retail maybe in April 🤷‍♀️ that is lockdown to me. She specifically said the stay at home order will stay in place

BBCONEANDTWO · 16/02/2021 19:05

@Bytheloch

No intention of letting the FM decide if I’m allowed to stay in self catering near my family in England who I haven’t seen in 18months and who’ve all had the vaccine. Easter school holidays I’ll be putting foot on the gas and crossing the unicorn border. Police Scotland will not stop and fine/impose quarantine conditions on those of us returning to vote to cross the land boundary, it just won’t happen.
I don't think she's ever going to let us travel to England ever again. I'm so upset haven't seen my family down there since last September I feel so so down. I haven't got it as hard as other families when it's been almost a year but it's soul destroying for us all.

I seriously think she'll have a bloody patrol on the border though!

Parrish · 16/02/2021 19:05

It has been extended! Until March 15th. Nothing is changing until then except for some school children going back. Or have I missed something? Again the wait goes on.

Selkiesarereal · 16/02/2021 19:11

I think I will crack if we have an election and the schools shut again- they could at least wait until the school holidays especially if polling needs to be over several days in order to maintain social distancing.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 19:34

This is all a total disgrace and will cost them a lot of votes.

Groovee · 16/02/2021 19:42

Oh our business manager was attempting to find out where our Covid tests are. Great start first day back.

dancemom · 16/02/2021 19:53

@fluffyugg

Found this...

The next phase of the return is expected to be all senior years, who are working towards national qualifications, being back in school on a part-time basis and with social distancing in place.
I expect this to be earmarked for some time around the middle of March.
If case numbers continue to fall, we could see the rest of primary school pupils back in class at this time also. First, second and third years are expected to be the last to attend classes in person.

Do you have a link for this?
AgentCooper · 16/02/2021 19:55

No word on gyms and pools either, I take it?

Lockdownbear · 16/02/2021 20:12

They'll be amongst the last, Two phases of schools, non essential retail, pubs and restaurants, they might open with the hairdressers.
fluffyugg · 16/02/2021 20:13

@dancemom it was on BBC Scotland live feed just after her announcement

AudacityOfHope · 16/02/2021 20:14

This was the exact wording of the section on schools, I don't think anything much more detailed was said

Here come those tiers again.
dancemom · 16/02/2021 20:16

Thank you @fluffyugg and @AudacityOfHope

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 20:19

When did pools open, was it sept/October time? And they closed again a few months later. If it's slower this time, we can look forward to Christmas swims I expect.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 16/02/2021 20:21

We first went swimming on 18th Sept. I think private pools may have been a week or so before.

AgentCooper · 16/02/2021 20:23

@anon444877 I think it was August but I might be wrong. The council pool near me never reopened. I bit the bullet and joined a private pool and God, it was such a boost to my mental health. I miss it like crazy.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 20:24

Gyms and pools are surely pretty essential to health

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 20:26

Ah yes there was that farce of permission being granted from govt, and then council hold ups - ours reopened end October, but we couldn't get a slot the three times I tried before it closed.

Good idea @AgentCooper I may look into that too.

TeenTraumaTrials · 16/02/2021 20:36

@RoseDog

I've had a text and load of instructions in an email as DS S4 is getting back to do outdoor PE, he has to go and pick up covid tests and test the day before he is due into school.
RoseDog that's interesting. DD is also S4 and doing Nat 5 PE but they are not on the list for those who will be back. But they have already done an assessed performance back in Nov when we were in level 3.
polarisation · 16/02/2021 20:39

Such a lovely evening here tonight and DH saying it almost felt like the olden days, maybe summer would be better... Until I reminded him that we're stuck in East Dunbartonshire and our bloody 5 mile radius for the foreseeable future. If nothing else I'd like to go to the sea at Easter, but we'll probably still be travel banned and the police will be on high alert for terrible criminals taking their kids to the beach for a paddle.

At least the weather might start getting warmer for standing in the playpark, because it's still pretty much the only thing we can do out of the house.

AgentCooper · 16/02/2021 20:40

@anon444877 it’s definitely more money than I wanted to be spending but I cancelled my work gym membership and as I’m wfh and not paying bus and subway fares it pretty much cancelled out. I would recommend private as there was no need to book for the pool, I could go wherever. It was the outdoor pool I used, which was pretty quiet in November/December but absolutely amazing. I’d give anything for it to open up again. I thought about taking up wild swimming but I hear that’s not recommended for beginners in winter!
ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 16/02/2021 20:50

I know schools are not going to be fully back until (at least Sad) 15 March, but I thought the wider lockdown hadn't been extended beyond 28 Feb. Am I wrong?

AudacityOfHope · 16/02/2021 21:11

Yes, there's no change to the lockdown situation yet.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 21:14

There is. She said no change til mid March and no holidays
