@blowinahoolie are you serious ..

If you are then Im glad you are happy. For me personallly I wonder how is my s4 supposed to pass assessments when he wont be back in school till mid march... off again in April for easter holidays.

celtiethree · 16/02/2021 15:11

I'm beginning to think that the S1 to S3 won't even get back after Easter - it will be senior years only until assessments are completed. Especially. as there was emphasis on social distancing including school transport.

Also why are there still no firm plans for how assessments will go ahead??

Teachers £400 plus two days for assessment marking (did I hear that right, pretty sure it will take lot longer than that - how much time do SQA markers normally get??). Why bother with the £400 it's an insulting amount after tax.

NotAnActualSheep · 16/02/2021 15:12

Really pleased for those with children going back on Monday! Seems my doom and gloom from Friday wasn't strictly necessary though I wish ministers and advisors would stop saying stuff so carelessly to merit it. But I definitely don't think that society is beginning to open up at all. In fact, NS was very, very clear on that. Parents with children back at school can't do anything else other than take them to school. They can't go back to work where they have been working from home. And of course they can't do anything else because it's Not Allowed.

Fingers crossed now for the next review in a fortnight... I'm sad that there's no hope for DS for at least another 4 weeks. And then we may have 2 and a bit weeks of actual school until the Easter holidays when we can't go anywhere . Ah well...

blowinahoolie · 16/02/2021 15:12

NearWildHeaven no sarcasm at all. Genuinely pleased we are all making some progress next week with small amount of children going back. This is something positive to hold on to.

I also have an S2 and a P6 so not thrilled for them, but I do have two preschoolers and relieved for them. They need to be back at nursery.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 15:14

Are we thinking that abroad also includes England?

ladylunchalot · 16/02/2021 15:14
@ladylunchalot Thanksyou're right again.
It's just shit, ds only started s1 last year and we battled for years to get him into an ASN school and he's hardly been there. It's going to be horrendous getting him to settle back in and the longer he's out the harder it will be.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 16/02/2021 15:18

Looks like a second lockdown birthday for both my wee ones. They'll not be bothered really (the smallest has never been to a party Sad) but I can't really believe we're here again. When it happened last year you assumed it would be a one off.

Lockdownbear · 16/02/2021 15:21

@GoldenOmber

I am so so so glad at least some of the kids are going back, and hope to hell the rest will be soon.

But I’m a bit worried from that statement about what’s in this plan they’re going to unveil for lifting lockdown. She said it’s highly unlikely overseas holidays will be permitted in summer, but domestic ones ‘might’ be? So we’ll have stricter restrictions than last summer even though most adults will have had at least one vaccine dose by then? Confused

It makes no sense. People really will start to ignore her.

Actually I hope people vote wisely in May.

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:22

I don't think a lot of these delightful politicians have any ability to think how hard that will be and what a bad outcome that is @ladylunchalot, the psychological distress that's been caused.

Scottishskifun · 16/02/2021 15:23

@WaxOnFeckOff

I bloody hope not!

Very relieved for all nurseries and young children hopefully it won't be long for the others and will continue.

But annoying there is still zero information about coming out of the lock down though even just a hint!

Also peed off to find out that I'm no longer on the priority vaccination list due to asthma despite needing a flu jab!

Peppafrig · 16/02/2021 15:24

Have any unpaid carers received letters for appointment for vaccination this week ? Weren’t we supposed to be getting appointments in this week ?

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:24

she very clearly excluded England 'holidays in Scotland may be permitted'. My parents are quite upset.

AudacityOfHope · 16/02/2021 15:29

The uncertainty feels really deflating, but also recognise that there is really no point giving dates. We don't know what will happen as we begin to reopen with the new transmissible strain now the dominant one, so I guess I'll just have to sit back and see.

My kids don't really want to go back to school (although I think that's a bit of a concern in itself) so as long as DH and I can keep working from home (ish) then we'll muddle through.

Glad for all of you who have little ones, and sorry for those who have been left hanging. I so so hope this is the last lockdown, and we're just coming out of it slowly and cautiously.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 15:29

@NearWildHeaven my feeling on it is quite visceral today

Sexnotgender · 16/02/2021 15:31

So, so delighted that nursery will be back on Monday. I genuinely don’t think I could cope wfh with a toddler much longer. My mental health is shot. Had a breakdown on Sunday.

MrsAmaretto · 16/02/2021 15:33

Just gutted. Glad for the wee ones getting back to school, but overall I just want to have a cry. Just had enough of living like this.

Think I might just go and order a hot tub, at least that’ll give us something to enjoy in Easter.

rookiemere · 16/02/2021 15:36

Nothing that's been said today is a surprise to me, very much as expected. I guess we just need to keep our fingers crossed that the numbers keep on coming down.

We're meant to be having family holiday first week of Scottish school holidays with DSIL and family. I keep saying we should reschedule, but DH keeps reminding me that as long as we can get over the border English rules will apply so there's still a chance it might happen. So just like last year - worry until last minute about going.

But yay it's perfectly safe for us all to meet up at our local friendly polling booth. Perhaps we should bring along a picnic and meet up with neighbours.

rookiemere · 16/02/2021 15:37

@MrsAmaretto we enjoyed our inflatable hot tub during the last lockdown. It's a bit of work and faff, but gives one something to do, also build in increased electricity costs to run it.
Must get DH to get it out again now we're above sub zero.

jabbathebutt · 16/02/2021 15:37

Someone on twitter says:

"No holidays at Easter but she can hold an election in May and an indyref later this year"

Which pretty much sums it up

Also parents are already hating on each other on Facebook.

Rae36 · 16/02/2021 15:40

Yet again nothing concrete mentioned for ASN pupils, really are the forgotten ones in this. I've emailed and tweeted SG and nada, tells me all I need to know

I thought she said "increased provision for ASN and vulnerable kids" but I didn't listen to the end, so I assume she didn't really go anywhere with that one?

My nephew has ASN and my sister can't "teach" him in the way he needs. He needs specialist input, not his mum trying to teach him round about her job and his siblings. It's really shit.

I'm sorry @ladylunchalot and others directly affected.

Pootle40 · 16/02/2021 15:43

I feel the same. I expected to feel pleased if P1-P3 was confirmed but I feel worse........when she says things about never going on holiday I feel like crying. We had Crieff hydro booked for a few days at end of March but that's now not happening. Might look at an Airbnb .... we need a change of scenery.

It doesn't sum anything up at all.

If she cancelled the election (which I am guessing she doesn't actually have the power to do anyway) 50% of the country would explode.

The one has fuck all to do with the other. It's a shit argument.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 15:50

@anon444877

Ah well, i'll still be going to the Lakes and I just might not bother coming back. so it's okay for people going on "essential" journeys all over the country but us going and staying in a self catering lodge will risk the entire country going on lockdown? Do me a favour...
ladylunchalot · 16/02/2021 15:51

@Rae36 I know she did mention that like she did 2 weeks ago but it's so suitably vague. Ds' school commented on it then but they were as in the dark as the rest of us.
It's a constant battle to get ds to engage and I'm weary to the bone with it all.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/02/2021 15:51

Whether the election goes ahead will be entirely based on the polls but blamed on covid if it's cancelled. Snakes
