NS: "So, to give just one example, we are likely to advise against booking Easter holidays, either overseas or within Scotland, as it is highly unlikely that we will have been able to fully open hotels or self-catering accommodation by then."

NS: "However, for the summer, while it is still highly unlikely that overseas holidays will be possible or advisable, staycations might be - but this will depend on the data nearer the time."

@blowinahoolie

Feels like all my Christmases have come at once. The relief is absolutely immense.

Great other years aren't far behind. Won't be long.

😀😀 I can feel your happiness from here!! Wink

Did I miss whats happening with practical exam subjects.. are those kids going back for the practical parts

Aurea · 16/02/2021 14:53

Did she say something about sqa looking again at assessment criteria? Wondering if I imagined it......

fluffyugg · 16/02/2021 14:54

Found this...

The next phase of the return is expected to be all senior years, who are working towards national qualifications, being back in school on a part-time basis and with social distancing in place.
I expect this to be earmarked for some time around the middle of March.
If case numbers continue to fall, we could see the rest of primary school pupils back in class at this time also. First, second and third years are expected to be the last to attend classes in person.

blowinahoolie · 16/02/2021 14:54

StarryEyeSurprise have really tried my best with all four DC, but I am no teacher or early years professional. DC thrive in nursery, they really do.

Really delighted for so manyGrin

Aurea · 16/02/2021 14:55

Frasersmummy

My son is going back one day a week to work on his higher music practical. There are 15 pupils in his class and they are spreading out within several rooms in the department.

Rae36 · 16/02/2021 14:57

She did say something (very vague) about families meeting up, I so want to see my mum and dad.

Yeah it's the right decision. Many parents will be having a celebration vino tonight I'm sure! It's so much harder supporting the youngest children.
Pootle40 · 16/02/2021 14:58

@blowinahoolie

Nicola Sturgeon you are absolutely wonderful 🎉💐🙌
Hmm
Peppafrig · 16/02/2021 14:59

@fluffyugg thanks so much . Can’t believe our children are being screwed over like that 15th March is so long away .

Our in laws are coming for dinner at the weekend. We've reached the end of our tolerance for this madness.
Pootle40 · 16/02/2021 15:02

I just realised how lonely my P7 will be without his brother next week and for the next 3 weeks at least. This over cautious approach is like the twilight zone.

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:03

My mum has texted me that she's given up and is cancelling her booking to come and see us at Easter. I wonder if my kids will see any of their grandparents or other relatives this year.

Whoop whoop.

Another full month. And, if the speculation from yesterday is right, for some of our school pupils (S1-3) it will be post Easter. Literally another 2 months. I am so over this. Completely and utterly done.

I didn't realise how strongly I feel about this now until today.

blowinahoolie · 16/02/2021 15:04

Oh come on Pootle40 try and see the positives here. Society is beginning to open up from next week. It's a huge milestone thanks to the Scottish government. Nicola working her magic 🍻🍷

I genuinely can't work out if you are being sarcastic?!
ladylunchalot · 16/02/2021 15:06

Yet again nothing concrete mentioned for ASN pupils, really are the forgotten ones in this. I've emailed and tweeted SG and nada, tells me all I need to know.

Lockdownbear · 16/02/2021 15:06

Glad LOs can get back. Farmed my LO out today the house is so much calmer. Able to actually get stuff done

Peppafrig · 16/02/2021 15:07

@NearWildHeaven and let’s not forget that the March date is not set in stone it is dependent on the numbers . So if the little ones going back causes a rise in cases then we won’t even get back then either. I am completely over it too. Don’t think I’ve ever been so depressed. Don’t think I will listen to another word NS has to say again .

GoldenOmber · 16/02/2021 15:08

I am so so so glad at least some of the kids are going back, and hope to hell the rest will be soon.

But I’m a bit worried from that statement about what’s in this plan they’re going to unveil for lifting lockdown. She said it’s highly unlikely overseas holidays will be permitted in summer, but domestic ones ‘might’ be? So we’ll have stricter restrictions than last summer even though most adults will have had at least one vaccine dose by then? Confused

anon444877 · 16/02/2021 15:09

@ladylunchalot Thanksyou're right again.

Rae36 · 16/02/2021 15:10

I've got a p5 so he won't be back till 15th March at least. Then after Easter for my s2 and S3. Strangely I'm looking forward to having the older ones at home while the p5 is in school (assuming that happens). I think it will give us a bit of breathing space and a chance to rebuild some slightly battered relationships without the smallest one around and constantly demanding attention.

Peppafrig · 16/02/2021 15:10

@ladylunchalot you are so right and I’m so sorry Nicola Sturgeon and this Scottish Government has failed people who need the help the most. It’s disgusting . Shame on her .
