Taking the knee

The Scottish rugby players didn't take the knee before the match against England. Thoughts?

Why would they?

derxa · 06/02/2021 16:52

@WaxOnFeckOff

Why would they?
Exactly. But every footballer is expected to.

I believe in equality of opportunity for everyone and despise racism but I'm against these gestures and blm.

Palavah · 06/02/2021 16:56

Some did, some didn't. I don't know why you wouldn't, but it's their choice.

Me too.. And poor bloody sports people are forced to do this.

Good for them. A load of bloody nonsense.

What waxonfeckoff said

RaraRachael · 06/02/2021 18:09

It should be up to individuals if they want to take part in these gestures. Nobody should feel forced into doing it for fear of getting abuse on social media if they don't.

CeefBurry · 08/02/2021 19:41

I agree with them.
Why should or would they

NCnotAllThat · 08/02/2021 20:09

Agree with what waxonfeckoff said. I feel sorry for these sports people being abused all over social media for not “falling into line” and taking the knee like it’s some failure on their part or evidence that they are racist.

BeautifulStar · 08/02/2021 20:10

Sick of all the virtue signalling - I admire anyone who has the balls to refuse to do it.

Sootess · 08/02/2021 20:45

Last time I looked we live in a country where individuals are free to choose to support any cause or no cause, privately or in public.

BowlerHatPowerHat · 09/02/2021 22:06

When it was first done I assumed it was like the black power salute. So done by the oppressed minority.
To me it has less impact if everyone does it.

I don't like that we are getting embroiled in American politics - taking the knee was a gesture by a black American footballer. And then a major think to show support of black people following the murder of George Floyd.
It's good to show support of black people but the murder of black people by American police is not going to change any time soon, or even in our life times. It means we are kneeling and angry for years over something we in Britain can't fix.
So show support for black people other than kneeling imv.
