Waiting lists

Hello, my child is on the waitlist for an Edinburgh private school and I wondered if anyone had any experience of likelihood of being offered a place?

Normally a number of spaces do free up as you will have children who have been offered a place at more than one school.

Depends what year group it’s for.
Edinburgh schools all send P1 and S1 offers out the same week so people will accept the one they want most. So if it’s for one of these years they will have allocated all places and you’ll be waiting for someone’s circumstances to change between now and August for a place to become available (which may well happen in current climate!)

If it’s for another year group then there is always movement within the private school sector as families move for work, or decide a school is no longer suiting their child and move them. They have to give one terms notice so those families won’t have given their notice yet for the summer. So there’s a greater chance with these year groups as places come up all the time.

A lot of children will have tried for more than one school but will only need one place, so yes waiting lists will move. I know of at leastc2 children who have got places from the waiting list at different schools. Keep your fingers crossed

I'm in the same boat. Anyone know roughly when people got offered waiting list places please? I don't know when to give up hope and start focusing my child on the alternative.
