Holiday havering...

We had 2 nights away (in a Premier Inn in Dundee - no stinting on expense for us) booked for October.

Had to cancel due to bereavement, re-booked for November; had to cancel due to Covid travel restrictions, re-booked for Feb holidays; now officially confirmed lockdown continuing beyond booking date so need to re-book...

My DH actually said, "so next Feb?" when I asked him about it. Had been hoping that by Easter we might see some relaxing but think it's unlikely we'll be allowed to the opposite side of the country. Am I trying for July??? What is everyone else doing (if anything)?

I just cancelled a week abroad at Easter and have decided not to book anything else until we know how this shit show is going to unfold. Realistically, I’m thinking October at the absolute earliest and even then, more likely 2022 🙁

I normally have around 5 trips abroad a year so am thoroughly gutted ...

Yeah, I'd love to be booking to go abroad - we don't manage every year but we did Christmas in Portugal last year and LOVED it... I find it much easier to get through Jan/Feb if I get some winter sunshine Wine So depressing isn't it?

We booked for early July before Christmas and it's looking really unlikely at this point. Think it's worse to have to cancel a booked trip from a disappointment POV - but if you've already had to rebook several times maybe it's worth the risk?

Booked a week
In March in uk after Christmas to cheer myself up - straight into lockdown, now found out pregnant- hoping it gets cancelled so we don't lose any money!!

I've just cancelled the lovely cottage in Scotland that I'd booked for the Feb break hoping travel in Scotland would be ok, it was so depressing hitting that cancel button I think I'm going to hold off for now on booking anything else. Doesn't stop me looking and hoping though!

canyouseethem · 19/01/2021 16:05

took the safer option and booked a week on the beautiful West Coast for summer...

ladylunchalot · 19/01/2021 16:46

Didn't get away at all last year, was gutted cancelling Devon as dh was still shielding. Had stupidly hoped that Easter might be realistic but I doubt it. Have seen a great holiday for the October school week (apartments I envied when in Ibiza) but don't feel confident enough to book.
Feeling down as I normally book our summer holiday around this time and love spending weeks deciding where would be good, just don't see the point in doing it.

We've booked 3 UK trips with the refund from planned Lanzarote last year - Easter, May and July. We thought abroad would still be off limits this year but the UK would be ok. Now we keep taking bets on if we'll make it to any 😩

cdtaylornats · 19/01/2021 16:53

My sister makes wedding dresses - some brides have cancelled 3 times. She can hardly move in her house for stored dresses.

Sturmundcalm · 21/01/2021 13:21

Sorry, disappeared due to family crisis...

Think we might go with the summer for current re-booking. It's looking like the best we can expect by Easter is travel within our own LA or equivalent tiers, and not even clear we'll have reached that!

Not looking to actually book anything else new just now because it is so disappointing to have to cancel, but this booking is now hitting farcical stages anyway. Would never have thought a couple of nights in Dundee could be SO appealing... I do find myself looking at self-catering cottages though, as well as regular Rightmove trawls - so bored that I don't really have anything better to do Wine

We were due to go to Aviemore last Easter - cancelled. We rebooked for this Easter, I think the let is for a week starting 2nd April.

Really hoping we'll be able to go - moving a family from one house to another is about as low risk as it gets. We've booked England for summer.

LtGreggs · 26/01/2021 17:35

We've just booked Borders for Easter and Highlands for summer - self catering, and I made sure there was a covid cancellation guarantee!
