Why does he kept saying this?!

Absolutely no one agrees with him 🤷🏻‍♀️

Because if you say something often enough then people believe it. It's then that the 90% of families for whom it isn't working feel like they are in the minority and it's their fault that they are failing at something that is clearly very successfully working for everyone else.

That's the sort of power I'd like @RaspberryCoulis I'll be sure to ask him regularly if he has one. Remember the games and everything that went with them. Seems like that was life in a parallel universe. Where did you volunteer?

titsbumfannythelot · 24/01/2021 16:31

Looks like we have hit the £400k vaccination mark

Apologies for the spurious £ there

Over 10% of the adult population, that's incredible.

@Iwillneverbesatisfied

I was wondering because the job I've accepted (until I hopefully get dream job - funding dependent) is in a university. Its in a practical department where the students can't learn from home, but I'm not in a teaching role so I'm at a loss whether I would be WFH or not.

Don't really want to ask when I've not even started yet. I'm vulnerable though so I've highlighted that. I hope they are not now thinking FFS why did we hire her Sad

Surely universities should be following the govt live and encouraging wfh where possible? I hope so, congratulations on the new job 🥳
kurtrussellsbeard · 24/01/2021 16:53

@titsbumfannythelot where do you find that wee dashboard? It's great.

AgentCooper · 24/01/2021 16:55

@Iwillneverbesatisfied

what about university students and staff? are they still going to be online learning too?
I work for a Uni and as far as we know the rest of the academic year (up to the spring exam diet, so April/May( is online. No idea about next year.
TeacupDrama · 24/01/2021 16:56

my DD age 11 P7 in Argyll says online is about 3 times bette rthan last lockdown but she is bored they have now given them Friday PM off so she met friends in village at 1 because before it was too dark by the time school finished
however in old tiers Argyll is at 61.3 per 100K so technically we should be in Tier 1 nowhere is Scotland is above 300 per 100K , so I really think after half term some kids could be back in school and in areas below 100-150 per 100K they could all be back in school

Does anyone think that we could ease lockdown/ have schools back before England or other parts of the UK? Just wondering how likely this is and hearing Matt Hancock saying easing of lockdown is a long, long way off but hopefully lifted for Summer is a bit Confused

Lockdownbear · 24/01/2021 17:31

I think the schools will go back around the same time. Maybe a couple of weeks difference tops.
When the rest of lockdown eases who knows but it's not going to be an overnight, bin the masks and crowd out the nearest disco.

littlbrowndog · 24/01/2021 17:44

Please let nurseries back

fluffyugg · 24/01/2021 17:50

The last thing I read was May potentially for schools in England, could it really be that far away for us too...?

Bytheloch · 24/01/2021 17:51

Never has Scotsnet been so busy with lots of conveniently-timed, don’t you think threads about migration to ScotlandHmm...well, at least for balance in amongst that there’s folk making plans to leave.

Very ugly times ahead, I fear. Sad

WouldBeGood · 24/01/2021 18:00

I would leave, but for divorce and brexit I’d be off to France

Perihelion · 24/01/2021 18:03

I do think some school years could go back earlier than in England, as our infection rate is lower. Can't see hospitality opening till the Summer.

Yes it's funny. There are a few strange threads around I'm attempting to avoid them as don't want to bring the tone down and get suspended for for pointing out the obvious. I'm going by the premise that if I ignore them they will go away...

I have my sights set on after Easter for schools returning. That's what I'm working towards.

But, I think we might see a very slow and gradual return of some years a bit sooner maybe nursery , P1, P2 and perhaps secondary seniors. They might get back on a part time basis. Or is this very wishful thinking?

I was saying to DP how even getting my youngest into school for a couple of days would help us out massively in terms of being able to cope. But also the numbers are coming down. Maybe they'll return to the tier system and some local areas will be back before others.

They are going to have some big socialisation issues with 4/5/6 year old who haven't been able to develop peer relationships over the last year in the way children usually would.

titsbumfannythelot · 24/01/2021 18:12

Well I know where to look if I get bored tonight.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 24/01/2021 18:16

NS needs to appease the unions in the run up to the election so she will want to keep the teachers happy and safe etc. It'll be either teacher vaccinations moved up the list or schools closed for later. Maybe bump up police officer vaccinations too.

rookiemere · 24/01/2021 18:19

Based on prior experience I'd say that no way would schools be back earlier here. I still remember last year with the garden centres and golf clubs open, schools resolutely closed because we finish a huge 2-3 weeks earlier than the English ones.

However this year there's an election and I'd imagine it would be a definite vote loser to be lagging behind England on this, so I hope there will be more of a push.

Sadly I think for S3 DS there'll be no escaping teacher graded Nat 5s for his cohort, so that's him screwed as a fairly average teenage boy - not well liked by teachers as no innate charm - but would have pulled it out the bag for exams.

rookiemere · 24/01/2021 18:20

Oh yes forgot about the unions @Iwillneverbesatisfied I was hopeful for summer term reopening, but who knows.

LetItGoGo · 24/01/2021 18:20

(As a potential leaver with a house to sell in the future I'm all for encouraging it, lol. I think lockdown has certainly encouraged me to move back nearer my family. My DH may not agree..)

I couldn't have managed well with little ones at home in a lockdown. Especially in view of the science they should get the wee ones back asap.

Are little ones still able to mix outdoors?

WaxOnFeckOff · 24/01/2021 18:22

It's good to see vaccination numbers going up and glad to hear that some of our own families are getting done, but we are still below everyone else and Wales have now overtaken Northern Ireland.
