Anyone know Dundee?

hi there
Well no, it won't be for a while, but I am due to have a meeting in Dundee at some point (to be determined!) and dont know the city well (yes, an actual meeting - remember those - not a skype - as I say wont be for a while...). Can I walk easily from the train station to Riverside Drive does anyone know? They are both DD1 postcodes so I assume are pretty close together but not been in Dundee since they jazzed up the waterfront so not sure. Any help appreciated.

Riverside Drive is pretty long. It depends whereabouts on Riverside Drive your meeting is.

I mean it’s walkable but it might take you a while

have a look on google maps...i find they are very generous with times for walking.

you are likely to find it pretty fresh and exposed as you are effectively along the Tay, so maybe a taxi if you have to arrive in a presentable state! :o

I reckon it's a good three miles end to end.

Well the train station is actually situated at one end of Riverside Drive. Are you going to SSSC by any chance? If so, it's a two minute walk. Getting across the road will take longer than the actual walk itself.

I used to live there. Can't remember but you may have to jump in a cab.

As others have said it really depends what part of Riverside Drive it is. Near the Tesco you're fine to walk and there's a side door at the station which saves you walking around the building too. If you're out towards the airport way then the road feels never ending. I've walked it a few times and always forget quite how long it is. It's a nice walk on a good day if you have the time but for a meeting if it's down that way I'd go for a taxi.

I got spectacularly shat on by a vindictive seagull last time I walked there. The volume and velocity were paralleled only by the stench. Envy

Dundee is fairly compact. When Dd first lived there, she lived by Harris Acadamy and managed to get the bus to brought ferry instead of home 😂

According to my mapping gadget it's 3.7km from the station end of Riverside Drive to the roundabout where it becomes Riverside Avenue. So I guess it depends where exactly your meeting is and how far you're willing to walk!
There's not much actually on Riverside Drive but you should be able to find specific businesses or properties on Googlemaps and that will tell you walking distance from the station if you use the directions function.

It's a long walk from end to end and as a pp said, quite open in parts.

If it's the business park, I'd get a taxi

Thanks all. Just my luck the meeting will likely be the wrong end of riverside drive, lol. If I ever actually make it to Dundee this year, I will take a taxi!

On the plus side, it's a straight road and won't cost a lot
