Hi

Does anyone know if private schools are also off in Jan / any indications of what they will or must do?

Thanks

I'd expect they'll be following the Scot govt guidance - you need to contact yours in particular to ask, surprised you haven't heard from them already.

Grellbunt · 31/12/2020 11:36

I’m not a customer. Just want to know.

Obviously, if they’re offering a better service, I might become a customer someday!

I’m trying to work out if the rules are mandatory for independents. Don’t know if driven by unions or what in state sector. Just trying to get full picture.

They will have to close and pupils not return on the 7th, if that’s what your return date was. No exemptions for private, think of all the private nurseries forced to close too, but I think you probably know that already?Hmm
Then who knows, we await instruction from our great leaders....Assuming all schools will be allowed some say in how their own staggered return might work🤷‍♀️
Contact your school if you haven’t heard. Let the school staff and teachers enjoy what’s left of their holiday first though, as it was news to them too last random Saturday teatime weekend.

Ours - GWC- is starting online learning on Thursday 14th Jan so a few days earlier than state school. We've not been told much about how it will operate but number of key worker DCs allowed is very small as they said teachers are required for online tuition, so I'm expecting it to be less patchy than initial lockdown offering.

Bytheloch · 31/12/2020 11:40

Totally assumed you were independent. If you’re not, it’s not fair to stoke the chat, everyone is impacted- teachers and pupils alike, nobody is judging.

Eh? I’m just trying to inform myself.

I’ll have a look at their websites.

@rookiemere my DS goes to a state school and starts online learning on 11th January...as with the majority of schools in our area and in nearby local authorities so your DC starting 14th Jan is not earlier than state schools.

rookiemere · 31/12/2020 12:00

Ah ok @SciFiScream that's interesting to know, I guess it must depend on how well each school is prepared to go online

Grellbunt · 31/12/2020 12:27

We are starting online learning too - but last time it was worksheets only and entirely passive / not marked. Difficult to motivate. Child lit up with the one google meet they had with the music teacher. And for some socialising.

Yes all state schools are online learning from the 11th January. Private schools normally have longer holidays.

cocopops · 31/12/2020 12:37

Online learning (full timetable, face to face so to speak) from Thursday 6th.

Exams for all year groups (prelims) pushed back by 3 days to start18th January.

The school has upped its provision from first lockdown.

cocopops · 31/12/2020 12:39

@grellbunt The rules are generally followed by independents because of their insurance.

Bikingbear · 31/12/2020 12:39

All Schools includes them, exactly the same as All Nurseries includes private.Confused

rookiemere · 31/12/2020 12:47

Oh sorry I meant to say online fromThursday 6th Jan Blush

RoganJosh · 31/12/2020 12:52

What sort of age? Senior or lower?
Ours are back online from 6th with I think full online teaching.

motherstongue · 31/12/2020 17:24

DD school was timetabled to be due back on 11th January anyway. The school has just moved the 11th startback to full on-line instead. The on-line provision is excellent so we are very lucky.

TheGoodDoctor · 31/12/2020 18:22

Not Edinburgh but full online timetable from Thursday 7 Jan for my S5

Bloodypunkrockers · 31/12/2020 22:27

Blush. I was trying to work out what an edi school was.

Edinburgh schools, yes?

SourMilkGhyll · 01/01/2021 17:59

Full timetable of face to face (online) lessons until guidance is changed to allow them back in.

ThePricklySheep · 02/01/2021 09:42
