Not going, feart incase it's like the disaster out elfingrove last year.

MBalloch · 13/10/2020 00:10

Omg same as pp, I have the fear it will be like elfinhrove which was awful! Lol

BrazenlyDefying · 13/10/2020 08:42

DD went last year and loved it. We booked Elfingrove on the basis that it was being arranged by the same company and would be equally good. How wrong we were.

So I am refusing to give Itison one more penny of my cash for making me endure the hell which was elfingrove.

Suzi35xx · 13/10/2020 10:39

What is elfingrove and what happened ? I need to know lol

I have to ask - what is this? Why are we subject to dreadful puns? I still have my ‘Glasgow smiles better’ mr man sticker...

I've been to Glasglow for the last 2 years and it's always been decent- it is what you make it really.

Elfingrove was booked on that premise and we had a good night with the DC's but we really had to polish that turd Grin

Suzi- Elfingrove was meant to be a Xmas experience based in Kelvingrove, but it was oversold and the content was poor. The result was an absolutely crammed gallery- where you couldn't even enjoy the usual gallery exhibits as some poor twonk in an elf costume was trying to do a skit.

I've heard that they never actually contracted any performers until a few days prior to opening- they were underprepared and I think they also expected the production value to be higher.

It had some nice ideas- but social media was an absolute uproar with people saying that they'd destroyed Xmas. (I think one skit that was binned quickly was a dinosaur eating an elf?)

We aren't local to the West End, but happy to pay for the prospect of safely walking around a park in the dark with some lights. Anything else is a bonus.

BrazenlyDefying · 13/10/2020 17:25

Elvingrove - it was marketed as "a night at the museum" experience.

In reality, it was a few lights they had left over from Glasglow, and some drama students. Things like a few lads dressed up as knights on their "Christmas KNIGHT out". And a poor girl dressed as an elf standing in a gallery trying to get everyone to dance. The whole thing was half-arsed, too busy, and a massive rip off. It costs us £50+ to go as a family of 5. The best thing was the brownies from the Three Sister Bake van outside.

And Itison wouldn't accept that it was shit, and that they'd oversold it. Utterly shameless.

catnoir1 · 14/10/2020 13:39

Elfingrove was horrific.

Some Christmas lights, a T. rex with a Santa hat on, lots of ques, an elf got "eaten" by something, some colouring in tables and expensive stalls outside. People in elf costumes dotted about looking bored as fuck.

Glasglow was great last year! Exceeded my expectations! Going back this year and hoping restaurants open so we can have a nice meal first

WouldBeGood · 14/10/2020 14:32

DS would kill me if dressed up though 😂

BlueThistles · 14/10/2020 16:08

GlasGLOW was brilliant last year... pumpkins galore... 🍁🍂🎃🎉

Elfingrove was awful sadly 😔

babygroups · 18/10/2020 09:28

We enjoyed it last year and are going again this year. Won't be dressing up though, going after Halloween anyway and tbh it will be too cold to dress up (depending on your costume I suppose) as you'll have to wear a warm coat over your costume anyway.

waitforitwaitforit · 18/10/2020 13:19

The DDs will be dressed up as we're going on Halloween but they'll be wearing their lovely (and bought in the sales pre-covid) winter coats over their Halloween costumes. I'm hoping to get a nice wintry picture for Granny's Christmas card. Grin

So, has anyone been yet? I am debating whether to go. Our booking is for 715 so obviously we won’t be able to go for food first 🙄and thought it might all be a bit dismal.
