Just that really. Just checking in to see how things are! Not sure if there is an existing thread. Apologies if so!

Two separate cases in DD4's school. A few weeks apart. None so far where I teach ...

But definite sustained community transmission impacting on several local primaries and 2 secondaries resulting in targeted testing in 2 villages. All residents were invited for screening regardless of symptoms or lack of.

Mistressiggi · 16/10/2020 23:25

Wow Groovee I'm off to check ours now!

Scotslassie1 · 17/10/2020 06:30

Yes we weren't informed directly at school either.

Got the antibody text last night. Appears the website crashed with all the teachers doing the survey!

Groovee · 17/10/2020 10:37

My friend couldn't get the antibody website to work. Will pass it on.

Mistressiggi · 17/10/2020 17:43

I got through the antibody stuff and heard today I am getting one sent out.

Scotslassie1 · 17/10/2020 18:22

How did you find out @Mistress? Did they text you after you completed the survey?

Mistressiggi · 17/10/2020 18:57

Yes, I got a text with a code and a different link

Scotslassie1 · 17/10/2020 19:05

Ok, thank you

Mistressiggi · 17/10/2020 19:20

I first filled the survey in about a week ago so you might still hear.

waitforitwaitforit · 18/10/2020 13:24

I'm back tomorrow but they're saying they're tightening up on face masks so we'll see what happens. Absolutely dreading it. Parents will start to get antsy about tracking and no parents evenings I'd imagine. The N5 stress is going to go through the roof. Plus the pressure to create brand new work that's suitable for 'blended learning' that may not even be coming.

(Just over) 9 weeks till Christmas.

throwingawaymyshot · 18/10/2020 14:29

Are parents evenings being done virtually or not at all?

mondaywine · 18/10/2020 15:43

I will be doing parents’ nights via phone calls.

waitforitwaitforit · 18/10/2020 16:36

All they're saying at the moment is that they can't run them in their current form. I can't see them working via teams/zoom (in secondary anyway) but they'll maybe have a go.

Callisto1 · 18/10/2020 18:08

We're getting a virtual meeting I think via teams. Had to choose our time slot and should happen some time in November.

throwingawaymyshot · 18/10/2020 18:18

I'm hearing impaired so virtual or phone will be a big problem for me. Would much rather just do it via whatsapp or email or just the simple report.

Scotslassie1 · 18/10/2020 18:21

Just let the school know. We did interim reports for all anyway.

Teachers- does anyone know when the Covid recovery jobs will become available (Highlands) and if these are permanent positions?

Groovee · 18/10/2020 18:51

Our parents night for nursery will be teams or a phone call, whatever the parents preference is.

I think the school are doing the same,

Callisto1 · 18/10/2020 20:28

I think we're supposed to get a short report in addition to the virtual parent evening, some time after half term. From what I remember they are very minimal, maybe they will be more extensive this year.

throwingawaymyshot · 19/10/2020 16:16

not teacher related but DD has come back from first day post october week to say a girl in her year S2 has tested positive and the whole class are self isolating, save one pupil whose mother (known nutter) refuses to allow her child to lose out on her education. DD mad that she's not in the same classes and thus not being asked to self isolate Hmm

Slightlybrwnbanana · 19/10/2020 16:18

How can that be the decision of one parent to make? ShockHmm

waitforitwaitforit · 19/10/2020 16:20

But surely if that girl has been in contact with someone who has tested positive she should be isolating, whether her mother is a nutter or not? If she's not been in contact, then others haven't, so the whole class shouldn't have to isolate, only close contacts. If she's in school when she's potentially got covid, her teachers should refuse to teach her.

Slightlybrwnbanana · 19/10/2020 16:25

An S2 class would move round the school usually together. They would sit in different seats in different classes, go through corridors together and spend time together at breaks and lunch. It's hard to see how this one child has had no contact.

Scotslassie1 · 19/10/2020 16:46

She'll be one of the UsForThem / 'F Nicola' brigade. Sad

throwingawaymyshot · 19/10/2020 16:59

The mother complains about everything. Was the same when at primary school too. I had a run in with her once where her large akita dog not on a leash attacked my small dog on a leash yet it was somehow my fault Angry Teachers hated her then.

And yes, as a PP said, they are in all the same classes, move around corridors together, share the bus etc although not in the actual friendship circle.

Scotslassie1 · 19/10/2020 17:11

That's shocking. Shock
