Hospital Staff - Gifts

Namechanged, as quite identifiable.

I will pick up DH from hospital on Saturday, after emergency surgery. Usually I would leave a 'thank you'-gift for the nurses, who have really gone above and beyond. Are we still allowed to do that or are covid-restrictions getting in the way?

If it is not allowed, I might just leave a deliveroo voucher or something similar, so they can order a pizza or two to share on a busy night.

Good your husband is being dc and it’s thoughtful to thank staff
Gifts that are wrapped in sealed packaging eg chocolate are ok
Food gift vouchers is a great idea, and will really be appreciated. Give it /send it to the ward manager

My dd works in a care home and they can't have a box of biscuits between them but chocolates individually wrapped are allowed, like hero's roses, Thornton's mixed boxes.

Individually wrapped chocolates eg celebrations, heroes, quality street

Thank you both :)

There have been some complications so he is being kept in a little longer (nothing too serious, thankfully) and I now got an info flyer that states strictly no food or beverages brought into the hospital. I asked reception for the ward's email and will sent them a JustEat voucher when he is discharged - that seems to be the safer bet.

Wishing your DH a speedy recovery. I am sure they will be thrilled with your kindest.

Is there a Starbucks or M &S coffee shop or the like on site ? A gift card for there so they could treat themselves to coffees during a hard shift?

I bought a stack of Lotto numbers, if it won all staff would share.
Hope things are ok.

OhThatTiming · 24/08/2020 09:37

@purplecorkheart Thank you - they are taking great care of him!

@Lidlfix Oh, that is a great idea! Might look into that next time I'm in :)

@NK5fd36457X11218d61631 I like that idea, too, but I think given that the virus survives quite long on paper, maybe not ideal at the moment :/

My understanding is that the virus survives less time on paper/card/organic materials than on plastic. I work in libraries and we are quarantining returning items because of the plastic jackets not the paper in the book !

Hope you get him home soon OP.
