Hi! My nephew (now at Sciennes) is supposed to be going to Gillespie next year. But his mum has heard some "not so nice things", such as low morale, about Gillespie in the playground and is now considering going private. On the other hand, his dad's colleagues could not recommend Gillespie enough based on his experience 20+ years ago. So any recent/ current Gillespie's parents/ relatives/ friends/ neighbours here who could give some honest comments about the school?

What did your nephew decide, and how has he got on @messyhair1?

It has a very good reputation. I'm not sure about currently but ten years or so ago it was a very sought after school. Given the affluent catchment area I would be surprised if that has changed.
Although I'm terms of exam results they have slipped from 15th place to 26th, nationally.

I'm a big believer in letting the child choose. There's lots to be said for transitioning to high school with your friends from primary.

What does "low morale" look like? Staff/students/parents?
