We’re moving back to Scotland and want to send our kids to Dollar! We’re transitioning when our eldest going into S1. Is it equivalent to 11+ and difficult to get in?

Also I have a younger child with dyslexia. Does anyone have experience with learning support unit and do they take dyslexic children.
Thanks

Are you planning for S1 entry this August? There are normally set dates for the entrance exams but you are not restricted to those dates - I don’t think it’s like the 11+ but I’ve not seen the papers so can’t confirm for sure.

Best thing is to contact the school directly and they will answer your questions.

Hi Broadsword4, I see you moved the thread. 😁. I was wondering where you are moving to if you are looking at Dollar and if Dollar Academy is the only school you have considered? As a poster said on the Secondary Education thread, there is a lot more Independent choice in Edinburgh if you’re staying anywhere near the Forth Bridge. There are also a few other schools (Boarding but with day provision) around Criefff.

I'm a little late to your post. My two DC went to Dollar, the youngest left this year. I know a number of their friends had dyslexia and learning support were very good. So, absolutely Dollar does take children with dyslexia and has support in place.

Overall, I would say nothing is perfect by Dollar is pretty close. Teaching is first rate, the extra curricular choices are amazing and there is a lot of support for pupils, I would recommend Dollar without hesitation.
