Scottish Exam Results 2020

After hearing DD3's deep sigh and worried voice observe "this time in four weeks..." I feel it's acceptable to begin the 2020 thread.

Over the years Scotsnet regulars and visitors have given great support, advice and even (tales of blissfully unaware snoring DC) light hearted relief to each other over the years.

This year has been particularly fearful for us and our DC and I know how much I have appreciated results threads in previous years. As there are plenty of threads with political discussions and chances for posters to express concerns about what politicians/councils/ schools/ teachers are or aren't doing, can I gently ask that we keep this to topic?

I have DD3 waiting on 1 AH and 2 Highers for a conditional offer and DD4 waiting on 5 Highers - results depending she'd like to apply for Law for the end of S6.

I think the 1,2 3s etc are for nat 5s?

SockYarn · 04/08/2020 08:21

Text just in. 4 As and a B. Absolutely delighted.

susiewong · 04/08/2020 08:22

@Lidlfix sorry to hear that. Hopefully your school is available today for support.

Relieved at good news for my DS 5 As / 1 B (nat5s).

emummy · 04/08/2020 08:26

So sorry Lidlfix. I hope they can get a successful appeal.
I am relieved - 2As and a B for AHs and a B for H; she is grumpy COD she thinks she would have got As in the exams. Will get in touch with school about the AH.
Well done to all who got happy results

sassanach · 04/08/2020 08:31

@Lidlfix lots of unhappy students on twitter this morning about their grades although people do tend to use twitter to complain about things.

Sexnotgender · 04/08/2020 08:31

3Bs & 2Cs at higher. DD is devastated. She wants to study medicine.

emummy · 04/08/2020 08:31

Still waiting on Dd2’s Nat 5s

cocopops · 04/08/2020 08:37

@alittlewornout That’s amazing- well done to your daughter and you have every right to be proud!

LizzieMacQueen · 04/08/2020 08:44

3 A and 2 B here. Bit perplexed with H physics, as was hoping for an A but otherwise he's pleased with that.

He'll be studying engineering so we hope the B in physics won't harm that.

RJnomore1 · 04/08/2020 08:47

I have a truly lovely 25 year old waiting for nat5 results. She’s gone old school and is waiting for the post. I hope they’re ok for her self esteem but let’s face it this year js anyone’s guess and hopefully from s4 we can fix anything she needs fixed.

Main thing is she’s been such a good kid during all of this and she seems to be happy so long may that continue.

🤞🏻

Ds is just up

Eng H A
Photo H B
BusM Nat5 A

So proud of him. Can't believe he's off to college x

Scunnered03 · 04/08/2020 08:59

DD2 in tears. 2Bs and 3Cs. The C in English causing the most anguish as she has had As in prelim and every test/assessment!!!!! Appeals being fired off already.

DD1 had originally being doing 3AH but dropped Maths after the prelim and was only really interested in Chemistry ( unconditional offer took all the pressure off), so is happy with her A and D.

HairyPotter · 04/08/2020 09:01

A in music , B in AH chem B in AH biology. She’s got what she needed but is a little disappointed as she thinks she could have achieved A’s if she sat the exam. Still really happy though.

Sorry to hear that Lidl hope you can appeal. It’s a horrible feeling for them.

SamSeabornforPresident · 04/08/2020 09:09

It's difficult to know how the appeals process will work, as if the schools used all available evidence + professional judgement and the SQA chose to overrule that, why would they then accept it on second asking? The whole thing is a terrible mess.

RJnomore1 · 04/08/2020 09:09

I should point out I have a 15yo not 25yo.

Still waiting. No post and even when it comes I don’t want to wake her.

Lidlfix · 04/08/2020 09:13

UCAS 1 SQA 0. She's got in anyway. Now to see about some appeals for results that don't actually make sense for DD4.

SockYarn · 04/08/2020 09:15

Brilliant news. I'd hope that UCAS is a wee bit more flexible than usual given this year's exam shitshow.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2020 09:16

I was hoping that checking ucas would help lidl. Well done, hope that's taken some of the sting away for one girl anyway. Just to sort the other out now. Best of luck and congrats to all those who got fab results and commiserations to those who are disappointed.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2020 09:23

Just seen posture doing the rounds at least an hour and a half early and in the peeing rain. Hope he had good news in his bag.

Lidlfix · 04/08/2020 09:26

Scunnerd - English is major heartbreak here too. Across DD and her friends none of their grades in English make sense.

OP posts:
Groovee · 04/08/2020 09:29

Oh @Lidlfix just catching up as I made him pancakes. So sorry about the grades but glad she got into uni. Hope the school can help shed light on the situation.

LizzieMacQueen · 04/08/2020 09:35

I'm hearing there were schools that allowed kids to do work that counted towards additional evidence - has anyone heard the same? Our school was locked on 23 March.

Scunnered03 · 04/08/2020 09:40

Lidlfix- same here. We can only hope that the appeals process is helpful; by the amount of groupcalls from the school, it looks like they've been inundated already.

Trying to be upbeat, telling her she's got 5 highers and with her LEAPS adjustment she can still apply for her chosen Uni course but she just feels she could have done so much better.

emummy · 04/08/2020 09:46

So glad she got in Lidlfix. Good luck with the appeals.
So frustrating- friend’s daughter has got into to Dundee for medicine with poorer grades than my Dd. Guess she got a better UCAT/ better interview. Sigh
