Placing Requests

Anyone waiting to find out about a placing request for secondary school? I really hope we find out soon because my ds is getting anxious about it checking the mail every day.

Do you think the current situation will change how many placing requests they accept?

I’m fairly sure I read a tweet recently that the timescales have been extended. Let me see if I can find it...

Here you go, looks like the deadline has been pushed back to 31 May.

Thank you 😊 I knew about the deadline. Just hoping they reply before the deadline. And am thinking maybe the school will accept less placing requests if they have to implement social distancing.

I suppose the new deadline isnt that far away.

I hope they won’t still be social distancing come late August!

Social distancing can't happen in schools. It is impossible.

Thanks. I was just going by the things the FM said. Perhaps half the school goes one week the other half the next or classrooms rearranged to have more space between desks. I assumed this would be for August.

I am obviously overthinking this

I got a letter yesterday confirming DC2 has been allocated a place at our out-of-catchment school (applied due to having a sibling there - ASN)

I hope I will receive my letter soon. I am expecting my placing request to be declined but had to try for ds as it is where his class will go.

Eventually got my letter. Ds has been offered a place. It was a long wait but worth it 😀

We got our letter today for our primary request. Sadly we didn't get it for DD. Was really upset but now trying to see positives, really reluctant to move so researching our catchment schools and hoping the secondary at least is not as bad as some are making it out to be...

We got our letter today for dd starting P1 in August. One less thing to worry about.

ColourMe sorry you did not get a place at the primary you wanted ☹️ I hope you like the catchment schools because then you won't have the worry about your dc getting into the high school. I took my ds out of our catchment primary to one in my mums area for childcare reasons. I was struggling to juggle work and school. It worked out really well for me, ds and my mum but I have really regretted it the past two years because I have worried so much about if he would get into the high school.
