Well put noworries many of us can relate to this.

Iggi999 · 07/06/2020 22:31

Er...ok then. Home education might be a better option.
I don't understand the "traffic on teams" bit though. Work is posted, children do it and post it back - we don't see who else is on and when. Don't use the chat function. But, not the point of the thread really.

Arewethereyet21 · 07/06/2020 22:57

@Noworrieshere

Absolutely. My p3 is also missing school and his friends terribly. I’m really worried for his mental health if this goes on for a continued length of time. We had a socially distanced walk last week with one of his friends and he was absolutely bouncing afterwards. This really upset me as he should have this interaction every day for several hours but we are both working so between homeschooling and work it’s just not possible.

Arkadia · 07/06/2020 23:31

@Noworrieshere, yes, I agree re social interaction, but that is not added value, that is a social club. A similar environment is given by scouts, Sunday school, sport, meeting family and friends and so on.

@Iggi999, at the beginning there was a lot of chatter on teams. That's pretty much died down. Some days go by and there is nothing to read, except the teacher posting the daily plan. No "likes", no comments, no nothing. Maybe some stuff is being sent through the "hand in" facility, but, again, I doubt it. We hardly ever send anything back now and nobody has said anything about it, so you are never motivated to do it. Even when we do send it back (which we are told we don't have to do), the feedback is very rare and never meaningful.

Mascotte · 07/06/2020 23:33

There's very little risk in schools. They should go back as normal.

Measures in place to close again if spike, but full time school should be the status quo.

SockYarn · 08/06/2020 12:44

Another day of zero new deaths.

No excuse for them not to sped up lockdown restrictions easing.

dkl55 · 08/06/2020 12:45

Agree with @Mascotte. Doesn't personally affect me but so many friends are really struggling and I am really angry that women are being disproportionately affected by all this. Many women I know are near breaking point. I saw a friend in the street the other day and she burst into tears. We just had to hug - but I asked her first... It was awful. X

Scotslassie1 · 08/06/2020 13:23

Well we've saved lives by following gov advice. Here's hoping the deaths stay low and maybe, by the end of the summer, I can see my parents for the first time since Christmas.

MumofHunter · 08/06/2020 13:36

Ten days time- if we keep death's low by following Nicola's advise- we can move to phase 2 🤞

SamSeabornforPresident · 08/06/2020 13:38

It's a wait and see exercise, as any infections as a result of phase 1 will not really be seen until next weekend or just after.

Pootle40 · 08/06/2020 14:09

Open the schools full time on 11th August. Enough's enough now

WeAllHaveWings · 08/06/2020 14:42

Agree

It is a wait and see if those that ripped the pish out of it by going to crowded beaches and tourist spots, crowded protests, letting their teenagers out to hang about in groups again etc etc will caused it to go up again and set us all back weeks.

The virus is still there, nothing has changed other than lock down has very successfully stopping it from spreading and killing as many people. Opening back up will just put us right back where we started in March.

MumofHunter · 08/06/2020 15:12

Completely right.

MumofHunter · 08/06/2020 15:47

And Pootle schools will be open full time in Aug, the same as they have been this whole time.

Pootle40 · 08/06/2020 15:50

Clearly I meant full time for all 🙄

SockYarn · 08/06/2020 15:57

And with children actually in the schools.

KaronAVyrus · 08/06/2020 16:54

They need to make a commitment to open the school full time from August 11th. It’s gone on long enough.

SamSeabornforPresident · 08/06/2020 17:09

I'd like to think it's possible. I didn't think she'd be introducing phase 2 as early as June 18th but she'd never have said it if it wasn't a strong possibility. Unless there's going to be a big delay from 2-3 then 3-4 (was that ever mentioned?) we should be ready to reopen schools in August.
It's a shame our holidays end so much earlier than most of Europe as we can't really see what happens elsewhere.

Mascotte · 08/06/2020 17:17

Children in the schools would be good 😂

rookiemere · 08/06/2020 17:44

I thought the default was 3 weeks between each phase dependant on numbers ?

Tomorrowisanewday · 08/06/2020 18:13

It was. John Swinney also detailed it as 18th June and 9th July for Phases 2 and 3 on a Johnny Beattie programme just after the first easing. These were the earliest dates, and all reliant on numbers decreasing.

titsbumfannythelot · 08/06/2020 18:14

They review every 3 weeks, although who knows when we'll enter phase 2. There is that much flannel in there I lose interest. I would like to get back to work ASAP, same as many others I imagine.

If they are comfortable with schools opening in August I'd say that they will feel comfortable we've been in phase 3 for a while by then. Which logically means phase 2 can't be far away.

Timefor45 · 08/06/2020 19:10

Hmm, yes I’d love that too, but I’ve heard from more than one teacher friend that ‘blended model’ learning is currently planned in from August until January (unless anyone has heard different?)
What does that look like until the Christmas break? Half the class 2/3 days a week or a full year in one day, utilising all the building space?
Presumably every school model will be different, so some children will receive more time at school than others. Then Jan/Feb there will be the usual winter bugs, causing ‘bubbles’ to isolate, with teacher off too.
So, under the current proposal are we actually looking at the spring (a whole year since schools first shut) before everyone is back full time? Confused

Sweetpotatoaddict · 08/06/2020 19:39

If the numbers remain as they are the only thing that would justifiably stop her moving us from phase 1 to 2 would be a failure of the government to implement full test and trace strategy.

fascinated · 08/06/2020 19:46

I saw a fb ad saying if I had symptoms to call for a test... thought that looked promising? Seemed open to everyone....
