Am very slow, can anyone tell me more about this and how it'll affect the students?

Depend on the uni and subject. Last term DS2 at Glasgow university (science) had contact hours cancelled, topics removed from exams, slower feedback on essays/projects. I expect the same this term. He's a bit of a slacker so loves strikes and would never cross a picket line but some students do and some lecturers are not part of the particular union striking. Department sent an email with details.

DD has been told that they basically should turn up for all classes/labs and will find out when they get there if it is going ahead or not! She travels between two campuses so is fairly irritated about the potential waste of hours from her day.

DS2s department usually tell the students informally if not going ahead as many commute in from a fair distance.
