Looking for ideas for a holiday - who has been to Oban? What's nice to do there? Will have a car. 2 children under 10. have started to Google, but thought Mumsnet would be a good resource too. Probably 3 nights, during Easter. What would you recomemend doing and what would you avoid? Any top tips

Definitely do the boat trip to Iona and Staffa. We used the smaller company doing the 3 island tour (mull, Iona, Staffa) and they were brilliant. Little mini bus. Very personal service. Tobermorey in Mull is a must. Just outside tobermorey there was a farm that makes their own cheeses. You can do a tour of the cheesemaking and they have a gorgeous restaurant.

we went last summer to appin just north of Oban.
in a 'll honesty we avoided Oban itself. I find it too touristy trying to drive in or out was a nightmare. even the supermarkets shelves cleared by mid morning.
escape and go to Iona it's beautiful or head north.

Seafood from the shack at the ferry terminal. Short seal trip is fun if you haven't done it before. I found Tobermory quite a long and boring day - we didn't take the car over and there's quite a long bus trip from the port into Tobermory itself.
Oban is a fab base - there are some lovely little bays and villages around, we like Easdale, Melfort and Craobh Haven.
