Hi I’m new on here but at a real low just now I moved into a house in April with my 2year old and then 1month old baby after splitting with their father! Unknowingly the house was full off bed bugs after a few weeks they were literally crawling the walls and we were all being bitten! I contacted the council and we got first pest control company who sprayed 4 times over 5weeks which never worked (they seemed cowboys) and with a little fight the council eventually got Rentokil in to do heat treatment followed by another 4sprays (I’ve been so unhappy even getting the sprays as it can’t be good for my babies) that’s only just finished and I’m almost certain we are still being bit and finding blood spots! With this all going on I’ve isolated myself from friends and family and I’ve only told my auntie about it as there is a big stigma about it! I really want to move but how would I treat my stuff? Toys, photos, etc ??? I’d just want to leave furniture and everything and start again! I can’t even think about Christmas which will be my youngest 1st Christmas has anyone had any experiences with these? How did you move? Am I being paranoid after all the treatments surely they are gone? The thing is tho we don’t know how long they have been infesting this property and never found where they were coming from so I’m thinking walls, floorboards, attic?

My friend had a similar issue - she replaced soft things (carpets, curtains, bedding, toys and scrubbed everything (cielings, walls and floorboards, futniture) with huge amounts of bleach. Which she says got rid of the remaining bugs. She found it incredibly upsetting too.

It is a difficult thing to move on from. Years ago my upstairs neighbour has bedbugs and they spread to all the other flats. The treatment worked and they never came back. But even now, years later living in a different flat I still worry about them coming back and get stressed remembering what I went through.

Is your house detached? If it is joined on to another property do you know for sure they don't have bed bugs?

When I moved, even though the bedbugs were gone, I started again with new furniture. But all my old neighbours stayed and the bedbugs never came back.
