Cleaners for elderly parents in Edinburgh

Hi

I'm on the hunt for recommendations for cleaners for my PIL. They live in Edinburgh, are struggling with mobility / illness, and my SIL has ended up doing all their housework / ironing for them. This has to stop, so we are looking for cleaners instead. None of us have ever had a cleaner before! and they are nervous of having to "manage" anyone, and are suspicious of having a "stranger" into their house. I've contacted one agency, and been quoted £12.49 an hour for a 2.5 hours a week clean, which I think is about right.

Any particular agencies that you recommend? I know it'll be more expensive using an agency, but it feels a bit more secure than just trying to find an individual.

Thanks all!

Just a thought may be worth contacting your local social services office. They may guide you to local firms who have been “ approved” by them. Also VOCAL ( a carers resource would perhaps also advise you).
