Another casualty of the high street. Was in the Clydebank store last week and the shelves were VERY empty. Not a good sign.

Will miss the wee tins of Arran Aromatics soap for £1.

Really didn't move with the times though.

Very sad. I think they expanded too much recently which will have over-stretched them. They'd have been better spending the investment on modernising.

my DH mentioned that last night but I thought it was just in administration so didn't realise the stores had shut (had just read a story half an hour earlier about bon marche calling in the administrators but not closing stores yet).

was always good for a wander... and their shop in clydebank is a big one so god knows who'll manage to take it over.

Liked that shop Shock just got a beautiful set of wine glasses with tiny diamanté bits for an engagement present from my DPs mum and dad from there

Very sad 4th generation owners. Does anyone else remember Sauchiehall street with Coplands and Pettigrews?Sad

I always think of it as an old people's shop, my Dad loved it.

OtraCosaMariposa · 20/10/2019 09:34

It was definitely pitched at an older demographic, certainly the clothing and homewares. DD liked the make up section though and sometimes picked up some bargains.

I am gutted, I was always in the Lanark store, picking up makeup, wax melts and cheap dove soap. I feel bereft! But yes, it was aimed at older people, and should have modernised rather than try to expand.
