Hi Im looking for some advice on costs of living if anyone is an islander?

Familiar with Mull and looking to get into eco tourism. Good workers but no quals in that area yet. Prepared to do anything to achieve goal. Debt free but sod all cash saved (£5k)

Currently renting not tied in and both late 30s and fairly fit. Have been searching jobsites and house prices and speaking to islanders

Any advice or pointers welcome

I’m not from Mull, I’m from Oban but no longer live up there...

The cost of living is higher, not property - but pretty much everything else costs more as obviously it needs to come from the mainland.

Winter is pretty dire, not the weather as such, it’s fairly mild, but it’s wet and dark and everything pretty much closes down... you’ll not have much if any income from tourism and there are very few jobs around at that time of year as well.

You’ll need to plan in how you’re going to manage financially with seasonal income.

If you have or are planning to have DC, you’ll want to factor in schools when you move because not all of the island is in catchment for Tobermory, part of it is Oban and they board on the mainland.
