who recruits invigilators?

I know there are a few teachers on here ;-)

My youngest is getting to the stage where he can be on his own after school, or until his siblings get home. i'm thinking about applying for invigilator jobs in one of the local secondaries (obviously not the one my older kids are at).

Who recruits - the SQA, the local authority or the school? Obviously too late for this year, but thinking about applying to start with the prelims in January 2020.

Local authority here but no harm in mentioning to school as they often need informal people for prelims etc.

Individual schools in my local authority/ tends to retired teachers . Not sure how you'd break into it.

Be quite nice to see some new faces some of ours are positively ancient and can be a bit out of touch with pupils- I give my classes really clear instructions about highlighting key words in questions and the examples from the passages in reading paper. Not the first time an invigilator has told them off for it

We advertise on our school website, and i bet it wouldn't be too late for this year - invigilators seem to be quite hard to find (but i'm not in scotland).

Think it would definitely be too late for this year - the first SQA exams are something like the 30th April. And although I have a PVG for the primary school, they'd probably make me do another one.

Will ask school next time I'm in and see what the arrangements are like locally.

I work in a secondary school and we use the same group of invigilators three times per year (2 x prelims and SQA time). Many of them are retired teachers, but others are retired accountants, bankers and other types of professional.

Individual school here. Definitely not too late for this year. School I work at is recruiting invigiliators but not your area.

They're advertising for some invigilator work on myjobscotland website just now for April/May/June
