Hey
So we are currently living in guernsey, channel islandswe have finally plucked up the courage to move to off this little island. So there is me and hubs and our 3 children (14,11,7)

My inlaws live in aberdeen, just outside of inverurie, so we are starting out there as it just makes sense to have their support with such a big move.

My OH is leaving on sunday, he has struggled to secure a job whilst still down here, so he will be spending 6-8 months up there working, saving and finding us a home, schools etc then we will join him once everything is in place.

I think im just looking for abit of advice in general really, anything to make me feel less stressedwe know inverurie quite well but from a touristy point of view i guess. Like we know the area but im slightly clueless on schools, gps, basically the everyday side of things. I would also love to get to know a few people too.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Good luck with your move. My family is likely moving to the area this summer and I'd like to learn more. Particularly I'm interested in hearing about schools.

Inverurie is a really popular place to live and has grown massively. New schools and GPs in the area so it seems they are keeping up with infrastructure.

It’s a lovely place, certainly a good choice for the area. It’s a good time to move from a house hunting point of view as the market is pretty low up there at the moment. On the flip side, business is struggling to recover after the last downturn so finding work might take time. What does your DH do?

Most places have a local FB page. Try “Inverurie dad’s/mums” you’ll find locals who are happy to help.

Be warned the influx of new residents means you'll be stuck in traffic for half an hour every morning if you have to commute through Inverurie to Aberdeen. Nice place though.

Lived in inverurie for a while (now more rural) and know a little about the schools.
Agree about the traffic. Expect nose to tail 2 X a day.
