Hiya, has anyone ever done an MBA? I was hoping to have a few questions answered.

Did you have to pay tuition fees?
What kind of loan did you receive? I believe it is less than bachelor degree loans?
How did you find the workload?

Thanks x

I did do an MBA but I’m afraid I won’t be very helpful! I did a p/t MBA at Edinburgh years ago. I think they have changed their programme but when I did it, it was 2 1/2 years long with classes two evenings per week. I was fortunate enough to have my employer pay my fees.

For the workload, I was working f/t but didn’t have any DC yet. I found the workload to be fine but probably would have struggled a bit if I had young(ish) children.

Funded by my company 15 years ago and they gave me 5 study leave days per year. I did it distance learning with some on-site workshops over weekends. At least 10, up to 20hrs a week on top of full-on senior role over several years. Thank goodness it was pre children. Studied again at masters level in 2017 approx 500 hrs over 9 months (plus 40-50 hr working week) for a professional qualification. Said never again due to impact on whole family. But seem to have signed up for more this yearHmm (albeit more modular so more flexible). My MBA was European/UK model i.e. most people were in late 30s/40s/50s doing it to further corporate careers. Rather than US model of people going straight from undergrad and desiring to be 'taught business'. I don't think it has the value/cachet it once did so be careful to pick course & institution carefully and think hard about what you think it will give you particularly if you have limited managerial experience.

MBA is valued but you need a specific institution....best would be INSEAD or London Business School.
