Hogmanay Help

Hi, I've made a big error and could do with some advice from Edinburgh locals. I used to go to Hogmanay with friends every year however haven't been for over 15 years. I had such brilliant memories of it and what a great friendly / family atmosphere it was (always a good vibe and people with kids) and have been dying to go back however life got in the way etc etc. As my daughter is now 8 I thought she's the right age to go and experience it s went ahead and booked a hotel on Princes Street, stupidly presuming it was the same set up as before whereby if you had a hotel, they would give you wrist bands for the street party. Phoned the hotel last week and they've told me its all changed, no under 12's and paid tickets to the street party!!! Its my own fault for not checking with the Hogmanay organisers. I've phoned them since and checked it all and managed to get tickets to Bairns Afore, but that finishes at 6pm. We've got a restaurant planned for 7pm. My questions are, is there anywhere we can go at midnight to watch the celebrations. How bad is Princes Street going to be now (presuming there is a reason they've now made it O12's only) and are we going to be able to get in and out of our hotel ok? Our daughter is very tall and looks older so I did consider buying tickets for Princes Street anyway and trying to pass her off as 12, but I didn't know how feasible it would be, whether it would be appropriate/safe. Anyone got any advice? I'm utterly gutted! Should I have just left this as a good memory?? We still want to go regardless as we all love Edinburgh and flights and hotel are non refundable. We've got plans for the 3 days afterwards, just New Years Eve is the worry. Thanks in advance for any help.

Has the hotel got a view of the castle? If so I'd recommend watching there. I went up town in 1995 and it was awful and have never been back. My Dd has a place booked at a club in George Street but she's 18. We've never attempted up town with our 2 tbh.

Can you watch from your hotel? My office over looks princes st and we can see from there.

I've been to street party 2006-2010. To be honest it's not something I'd do with children, it's a great atmosphere but lots of drunk and inappropriate behaviour for your dd age. You'll need to ask hotel about access arrangements for guests during street party. They may have a rose at entrance? You may not get wristbands now anyway as it usually sells out?
