Help me plan the perfect date in Edinburgh

Looking for ideas/recommendations.

Dh and I have been together 15 years on Thursday (Married 4)

I have been racking my brains trying to think of something to do.

Had thought maybe of a spa morning then dinner somewhere but it feels a bit dull.
I want to try to fit in a visit to the Jolly Botanist at some point too..

Thanks!

Dungeons?

BeautifulPossibilities · 13/11/2018 19:34

Do you live in Edinburgh or outside?

Could you arrive by canal barge? That would be fun!

Take ferry out from South Queensferry - Maid of the Forth?

Film at the Dominion

We live outside Edinburgh, but not too far away. Just outside Penicuik.
Love the idea of a canal boat!

Haha - great suggestion re the dungeon but dh is too scared to go!

It’s not too bad, honestly it’s really good.

Also for a snack there’s a place that does MASSIVE portions of chilli nachos. I can’t remember the name but if you google Edinburgh and chilli nachos you’ll find it.

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 19:44

I was at the dungeon for a hen party in the summer. Absolutely loved it but dh completely refuses!!

This the nacho place? http://theauldhoose.co.uk

Yes! It’s just pub food so wouldn’t suffice for such a special date but the nachos are a must try.

Surgeons Hall is fascinating and Chyphraya has the most fabulous views over the castle x

Veterinari · 13/11/2018 19:52

Afternoon tea/gin/whisky tasting boat trips www.re-union.org.uk/boat-trips

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 19:53

Surgeons hall looks amazing. It's on the list.

Take him on the ghost tour that runs from the top of the royal mile?

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 19:53

Huck GrinGrin

The gin tasting canal tours don't have any available dates left this year

The Christmas Market opens on Saturday maybe a nice wonder as they always have quite a lot.

If you like seafood there are quite a few restaurants not far away fishers in the city etc.
It is also the rugby on Saturday (5.30 kick off) so you might want to factor that into any plans that it's going to be busy!

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 20:12

Ahhhhh forgot about the bloody rugby.

Although if I get bored of speaking to him at least I can watch it!

How about an Escape room, then go to the Cafe Royal to watch the rugby and then a meal out - Monteiths at the high street is really nice and cosy and they do a mean steak.

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 22:05

I'm now thinking do we do this https://www.tennentstrainingacademy.co.uk/course/2766
I know it's in Glasgow but we could get the train - open return is 24.70 for both

Is this a crazy idea? I wanna do something we will remember and I love a distillery tour!

I’d always say that the best date in Edinburgh would be to go to Glasgow Grin

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/11/2018 22:15

However, the best thing in Glasgow is the train to Edinburgh...:o

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/11/2018 22:17

For some reason I couldn't get the actual page to open, but how about this?:

www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186525-d6869486-r313702107-Edinburgh_Gin_Distillery-Edinburgh_Scotland.html

There must be loads of things similar to the glasgow tour but in edinburgh and save your train pennies for the gin/food etc.

Lovelylovelyllamas · 13/11/2018 22:36

Touché wax Grin

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 22:41

Tried that wax - they're fully booked. As is the other gin distillery in Edinburgh

Threeminis · 13/11/2018 22:42
