Hi does anyone have any advice on what is the best school in Milngavie have been to see them all and can’t decide. It will probably be a choice between clober and Milngavie as don’t want to go to Craigdhu as heard some pretty awful things about there. Thanks

What have you heard about Craigdhu?

ScottishMummy12 · 25/10/2018 07:48

That it is has very poor standards. Children in the class are unruly. Bullying is horrific and it’s swept under the carpet.

We're very local to Milngavie (just next door) and very close to Craigdhu. Have heard nothing of unruly children and horrific bullying. It has a solid reputation locally. I don't think there's much to choose in terms of reputation between the three - perhaps the slight disadvantage of Milngavie PS is that is an old Victorian building and Craigdhu and Clober are newer.

Have you investigated just how much of a choice you'll have? Placing requests are by no means guaranteed. The Catholic primary school in Milngavie closed in summer, around 50% of pupils transferred to the new merged catholic primary in Bearsden, the other 50% went to their local primary schools in Milngavie.

Have checked with all schools and they have space. When I went in to Craigdhu to visit it, it was awful. There was children running about screaming and the staff seemed to have no control Of the children. I know there is a new headteacher in so that could change.

Agree with piper. Mindee at the school and attended a few events. I am very surprised at your conclusions. Seems to be a happy wee school in an enviable setting. No complaints from me.

Not sure if you have moved schools but would recommend Clober. We moved our daughter from Craigdhu in January there and the difference in her is unbelievable. She has become much more confident and actually wants to go to school.
I am not the only parent to have left Craigdhu this year due to the standard of teaching and the management.

I think you will find bad stories on all the schools if you dig deep enough, I've heard some horror stories on all 3. I think you need to make your own decision based upon visiting, and you're saying you didn't like Craigdhu. So then you decide between Clober (where there are some hideous stories of junkie parents fainting at gates) and Milngavie with poor outdoor space. It will depend where you stay and your catchment area. Not all placing requests are approved

Thanks everyone. We ended up going for a school outside of Milngavie which we are very happy with.

Hi there, may I ask which school you ended up choosing. We’re looking to relocate to either Milngavie or Bearsden and would like any help with choosing a school for my little one.
Thanks x
